Cheese and chilli toasties are fab, although very very messy!
I was almost taking my two to see that tomorrow. I've changed my mind now though! My eldest (8) came home from school the o0ther month and asked if she could have a rabbit pencil case - turns out half the girls in her class have Playboy bunny stuff. She was told no, in no uncertain terms, I cannot understand why that stuff is marketed at kids! There is a little girl in her class, who was wearing a Playboy bunny t-shirt to the church youth group the other week, what on earth was her mum thinking?

My daughter is 8 1/2, and she's been the same for years, she's an absolute nightmare to keep in books! She's loved anything by Jacqueline Wilson for years - they are about older girls, but most of them are very innocent, but the girls in them are tough, independent, sassy, and quite naughty - there are a couple (tho off the top of my head I can't remember which ones) that Rhianna hasn't been allowed to read yet, but I normally scan through them first before passing them over. Rhianna also loves anything by Roald Dahl - Matilda is a lifelong favourite, as is the BFG, she's read the Spiderwick Chronicles, the complete Chronicles of Narnia, etc. For crying out loud, do NOT let her read any of the Rainbow Fairy set, they aren't stories, they are torture for parents, and complete and utter mince! Good luck, and get raiding charity shops!

If its any consolation at all, my 4-year-old son had his eyes tested again yesterday, whilst pretending to be a snake. Have you any idea how hard it is for a snake to have his eyes tested? For a start, snakes don't speak, and my son insisted on flicking his tongue and hissing every 10 seconds. He also left the consulting room on his tummy, and slithered all the way through the waiting room. He stood up when I pointed out that snakes aren't allowed in the shop, and don't eat sweets. He was a lion at the paediatricians the other week, has been a dog, a cat, and various Doctor Who monsters, including the day he was a Cyberman when getting a canula inserted, and kicked the doctor in the chin, making him bite through his tongue. Apparantley (according to my health visitor, who came round to see my giraffge the other day) it shows a healthy and active imagination. Am still not sure if she was just saying that to make me feel better tho.
