Yasher koach, Rafi!!!!!
Big Week for Rafi
Rafi's had a big week! I'll eventually get around to posting Purim pictures, I hope, and we had a visit from Grandma and cousin Megan this weekend. On Sunday, Rafi learned to ride a bike without training wheels: and yesterday, he lost his first tooth! (Late tooth-losing runs in the family.)
we got dude down to paci's for night time in the crib ONLY a few months ago, but he still drinks milk out of a soft spout sippy. Kind of a glorified bottle if you ask me.
How do you navigate bedtime w/o that easy-peasy milk? I'm at a loss...
bottle fairy
we've been very bad bloggers lately and other than working round the clock, there's no good excuse. neither melanie nor i would change our work situations for anything as we realize that we're very fortunate (we both love what we do) but it's exhausting. you see, we had decided before I even got...
no coats? In January? TALK TO THE HAND! ;)
random pictures
trying to keep up with documenting our fun lives is a full time job! hopefully our kids will appreciate it when they're older. here are random pictures from our trip to Florida that never made a post. <morning treasure hunt walk> see more pictures here....
And he looked DARLING in his Abby Cadabby costume!
Malka will have you know, that in spite of the fact that her Superman costume was, ipso facto, a supergirl costume, that was, in fact, superMAN. In a skirt.
thankyouverymuch.
And I hope our cherubs can go kick some ass together.
And yes. Music classes - he gets it.
And duh - the kid is a kid of a librarian.. OF COURSE he can read! :)
hi, stranger!
I am trying really, really hard not to feel guilty about the blog. I am also trying really, really hard not to just give up on it. I am trying really, really hard to be Zen about it and let it go for a while and know that I still love it and will come back to it but that a hiatus might be OK and...
Malka was a daycare biter. I felt like I was walking in with wine for the parents almost every day. ;)
She (thankfully!) grew out of it.
Smoosh has started play biting me, and DANG those toddler teeth are sharp! I have to TRY my hardest (major FAIL) to NOT say OUCH! Because my saying OUCH? Is apparently THE funniest thing EVER.
Good times.
teeth are NOT for biting!
guess who's biting her classmates at school? you guessed it, our little fiesty cooper shea. thankfully, she's not biting hard. it's mostly more of a gesture at this point which means that she's opening her mouth and wrapping it around another child's body part - arm, neck, whatever is closest bu...
awesomesauce!
We've been blessed, with Malka being surrounded with loads of 2 mom and 2 dad families, so the comedy for us is that it's "OK to have a mom and dad. Like Owen does." ;)
The girls are GORGEOUS.
Miss you guys!
ryan, do you like having 2 mommies?
so today we hung out with my cousins who have 4 and 2 year old boys. the kids always love hanging out and we hadn't gotten together in a long time so it was nice to catch up. while ben and ryan were playing, we overheard ben ask ryan if she liked having 2 mommies. ryan: "yeah, it's great!" ben: ...
I LOVE these ideas!
Swoon.
a bit of a mish mosh
this weekend was another hectic one! my mom was here from tuesday-saturday and we never stopped moving. it was ryan's spring break so we had lots of play dates and things planned to keep her busy. melanie also travelled for business a couple days so my mom was a huge help with the kids. she l...
Malka is exactly the same way with Noah Matan - it's SO sweet! YEA, Coo-Coo!
our littlest girl
it is mind blowing that cooper is quickly approaching her 1st birthday. it's still surprising to me regularly that i'm a mom at all much less to 2 amazing kids, neither of which is really a baby anymore. cooper decided she was ready to start walking TODAY. it seemed months ago that she would ...
sadly, with a few dead cats behind us, Malka has had to deal with the whole death thing pretty early on. "Their bodies stopped working, and they died. Now they are with HaShem." She asks about it every so often, etc.
As far as MLK goes, kids are much smarter than we give them credit for, and it's never too early to talk about race. It's hard, yes, but important.
week in review...
sometimes before bed ryan requests a dance or bounce party. a couple nights ago she requested both and since it was early enough we obliged. she had a blast as usual and cooper enjoyed being in on some of the dance action this time too. some of the pictures of ryan that capture the "attitude"...
Happy, Happy birthday sweet Ryan!
4!!!!
happy birthday, sweet baby girl! we can't believe that you are 4 already. you are a smart, funny, caring, sweet, independent, confident, beautiful (of course) bug and dinosaur lovin' little angel. each day you surprise us with something new and witty. today, you woke up, bright and early at ...
oh we are puke experts here - if he coughs or cries, he pukes.
Tonight, however, we had a whole new level of puking - the "hey, I haven't eaten, yet here I am heaving and oh my here it comes" kind of puke. Kind of freaked me out. But now, it all makes sense, as he, and Coop, have a "sensitive gag reflex" - as his doctor described.
If she's pretty happy after eating, and mostly pukes as a response to crying or coughing, then it's just one of those things. SUCKS, but yes, just one of those things.
Poor Coop.
You could try Prevacid, see if it helps, call her doc, ask for a prescription. It should work in a day.
ugh
today, gigi and papa (amy's folks) threw a fabulous party for cooper's baby naming. i'll write a post about how absolutely great it was tomorrow, when we're ready to upload pictures. tonight though, i need to blog about someone not quite as fun. our little cooper is almost 10 months old. we n...
eek. Well, at least we can add it to the similarities our girls share! ;)
(goodness knows how we all survived the metal and concrete playgrounds we grew up with!)
chipped tooth...
so yeah, this is what i was greeted with upon arriving at school today to pick ryan up. evidently, there were a couple kids on the monkey bars at the same time all thinking it was their turn next and a little push later, ryan's mouth met the bar and did not fare well. though i guess we shou...
15 minutes with a CATH IN? I hope you gave a "what to" and a "what for" to the doctor.
Poor boo.
Hoping the other one comes back perfect, too!
kisses.
Trooper!
as a result of cooper's uti, we were referred to the children's hospital for further testing. evidently, it's dangerous for a baby girl under 2 to have a uti and so her dr. wanted to make sure she didn't have a condition called vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) where the urine flows backwards to the ...
I'm PLOTZING!
broken heart *updated*
so after lunch today ryan asked if she could do an art project; she wanted to cut out a heart (out of construction paper) and glue rhinestones on it for her teacher, ms. mandy. melanie was her assistant and after about 30 minutes she emerged with her beautiful sparkly heart. she wanted me to t...
sending love and light.
got love? send it to arizona.
I am not religious, but I believe in love and I believe that it can't hurt to have a whole crapload of people sending love to my aunt today. As mentioned, she was diagnosed with fucking breast cancer a few weeks ago and is having surgery today. At 1pm Mountain Standard Time, please send your v...
oy. Poor boo.
In the ER . . . AGAIN!!
It's 3:20am & we're sitting in the ER. Ryan had her first visit last month I think and I guess Cooper didn't want to be out done. She woke up crying, puking and shaking uncontrollably @ midnight and then just moaned in pain. I was out with an old friend so Melanie made the executive decision to c...
oh my. ADORABLE.
ryan+brenden
today i volunteered @ ryan's school for their fall festival. it was really cute to see all of the kids, some of whom were dressed up. i worked the "potions" table. ooohhh, ahhhhh. it was fun and really MESSY!! better at school than at my house, that's for sure! ryan loved having me at HER ...
hey, she's ahead of the smoosh - 10.5 months old, and still no dang teeth! ;)
Coo-coo's 1st chomper!
Can you see the little white fleck on the bottom of her gums?
yea! I'll have to figure out how to duplicate the book so each can have a copy.
And it's cool to watch their own artistic "styles" develop! ;)
grandmas
this week, both grandma's decided to send the girls packages by mail and they were not in cahootz, neither knew of the others plans. in addition, both girls received their monthly books from the PJ L!brary and ryan received a friendship book from her pal malka that they interact with each other...
oh. Just. Oh!
As for the second child thing? Noah Matan is already doing all kinds of crazy that Malka didn't do. I think it's a combo of the amazon factor (Malka) plus, the older sibling as influence thing...
hectic!
ok, so i'm super annoyed because i just wrote this super long post about everything that's been going on the last week including pictures and then typepad ate it or something. so here we go again, except this time the cliff notes version: we bought annual passes to $tone mountain park on sunday...
awesome. just. awesome.
body paint
i caught ryan in the backyard driveway this afternoon with her arms covered in sidewalk paint. i decided to go with the flow and figured...what the heck?! i had her strip down to her undies, busted out the finger paint and let her go. by the end of it, she looked like the incredible hulk. sh...
I can't imagine.
Sending love.
And strength.
hit
I will admit that I had been looking forward to GMB leaving for college. My reason was twofold. One, it is incredibly expensive to feed an 18 year old boy. Our grocery bill is cut by easily $100 week. Two, one grows weary of waking up at 1 and 2 am each night for the "I'm home" intercom call tha...
yea, Beck!
school
I walked to work today, the first day that I had real meetings to attend and real work to do and my assistant back and all that. And I turned on the iPhone and flipped through my playlists as I walked, trying to decide what I wanted to hear. And I ended up on the playlist called, "For Labor... E...
oh my, oh my! Sending a misheberach to sweet Ryan!
ryan's first trip to the er
last night was very stressful in our home. ryan started sounding congested and coughing when we picked her up from school so we figured it was the start of a cold. after her bath, i hooked up the humidifier so that we could nip it in the bud as usual. cooper had her 6 month check up at the pe...
hahahaha - Love it!
Fun Times in Parenting a Toddler and a Teen, item #754
In the next ten days, I will send our big kid to college, re-welcome my mother-in-law into our home (albeit the rental), return to my job and see my tiny son start (part time) day care. Or "school" as we ALWAYS call it. Because ELMO goes to SCHOOL. So, you know. I have spent countless credit car...
