Love the sketch (reminds me of Barcelona). Nice even lines throughout. You've got a winner!
The Perfect Pen
Last time, I promised I would write about the amazing pen I discovered. I know everyone struggles to a certain extent to find the pen that really works with their style (aside from the lucky few who can pick up anything from a fountain pen to a ballpoint to a Sharpie and work magic), and I'm no...
To my mind, doing anything art related is fun! I love both of these little cartoons!
It's Been a While...
In fact, it's been long enough that I hadn't even signed in to Typepad on my new computer that I bought a week and a half ago. Yikes. It's not like I haven't thought about the blog, or been doing anything art-related, because I've done both. But somehow I was always busy actually doing things in...
I think this is awesome and I see nary a veering anywhere! What a lovely setting!
Another One From the Ranch
One morning when Morgan was in town, I sat out on the porch at the ranch and drew. It was just me and the various wildlife. The only sounds were the chickens, hummingbirds, and various rustles from lizards or rodents through the plants. The dog was quiet and pretty disinterested in what I was ...
Gorgeous, Ursula!!
Sunday Image - Minimalism
Ursula you did a beautiful job on the plants, truly. I love this whole double page spread and think it is so very lovely. I have to look into those Pitt pens...and a Niji brush...
Plants Galore
My husband and I spent the last week in California. We were too busy for me to have time to sketch while we were out and about, but I did manage a couple of drawings at his parents' ranch. I'm filing this drawing under "Urban Sketching" even though it's pretty far from urban. The first one is wi...
Gosh, I would give a lot to be able to either of these. I think they are wonderful!
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
I was going to do this in reverse order, starting with the bad and the ugly. You know, the same way that when you have some good news and some bad news, most people want to start with the bad news. Finish strong. Instead, I'm going to start with the good and maybe you'll have lost interest by th...
This, Ursula, would be a gorgeous painting! Beautiful image!
Sunday Image - Swans
Ursula, this is a fabulous piece, really. I know the uninspired feeling, have to say. These little sketches will hopefully jump start the muses. I really like this one and it reminded me of this months art history challenge.
Dragon Boats
Last weekend was the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival here in Denver. Morgan and I have always meant to get out and see it, but hadn't gotten around to it until this year. It was a scorching day out there, but I guess that's better weather than they've had the last couple of years, when I understan...
I just really like this! Well done!
Garden of the Gods
Early last week, Morgan and the kids and I went down near Colorado Springs to visit Garden of the Gods Park. We had a great time, in spite of it being very, very hot. Giant rocks tend to reflect sunlight and heat, which added to the problem. But we were all troopers and toughed it out (three lar...
Now this is one fabulous photo! It looks like you were standing right next to this king. I hope you weren't! LOL
Sunday Image - Lion
I know photographers might disagree with me, but I think the advent of digital cameras has truly taken the skill out of photography. I never was able to truly understand the F-stop and shutter speed rules with the old 35 mm cameras (I took a photography class in high school and those two issues were apparently the one time I glazed over in class). My husband still loves these old cameras but I have to admit that he has allowed the digital to take over for him.
Going Old School
I know I've gotten into the habit of mostly posting drawing on this blog, but I keep myself busy with other hobbies as well. At the moment, a lot of my time is split between drawing and taking photographs. I'm currently having a love affair with film. I've posted some photos from my Holga here b...
I love this piece and this might be how I found your blog originally (though I'm not positive). It is lovely and reminds me of Gillian's work a bit. Beautiful!
Jersey
First of all, I want to thank everyone who left lovely comments on my last post, with the watercolor painting. Your remarks are very encouraging, and I'm sure I will be trying my hand at watercolor again in the future. It's been hectic around here with the kids visiting for a week, and I've gott...
I think it is wonderful and much better than I could ever do (and alas, watercolor is my first love and the one medium I used over and over). I wouldn't call this a failure at all. I think it is beautiful!
Watercolor?
I was reading Vicki's blog the other day and she linked to an entry on another blog in which the author posted a still life photograph and challenged people to paint it. I have some watercolors, and some watercolor paper, but I never, ever actually do watercolors. I figured it would be a challen...
Found your blog via the Virtual PaintOut blog. I love your work! I have seen this type of foundation on other art (in fact, I bought a miniature piece done on a book page) and I also love it. In fact, I intend to do this too!
Drawing in Books
I did these pages a while back, but never got around to posting them. The outlines are drawn with a Pitt pen and then they're colored with Prismacolor pencils. From Book Art I think they'd look great as a framed series. Maybe one day I'll get around to actually framing them...
