I don't know if once-blooming roses need to be defended, but rather just celebrated by those of us who love how they mark the season. I have loads of regular roses. But my Hybrid Perpetual Paul Neyron, which I barely care for, gives several hundred blooms each spring and is well worth the ten feet or so of space in which it sprawls. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff276/redwood81/RosePaulNeyron.jpg
