If you live in the NW you are no stranger to the lack of sunshine. This generation more than any other has begun to see an increase in the number of people, North of the equator that have a deficiency in Vitamin D, the sunshine drug.Vitamin D is produced naturally within the body via the sun’s rays kissing your skin. So why is Vitamin D so important to us. Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of the body and its many organ systems. Vitamin D regulates calcium levels in the blood by promoting calcium absorption from food, and by promoting re-absorption of calcium in the kidneys. This enables normal mineralization of bone. Vitamin D is also needed for bone growth and remodeling. Inadequate intake of Vitamin D through healthy food sources (low fat milk and yogurt) coupled with inadequate sunlight exposure (too much sunscreen) can lead to Vitamin D deficiency. The result of Vitamin D deficiency is impaired bone mineralization and bone softening diseases such as rickets and osteoporosis. A general lack of D in the diet and body can cause such symptoms as fatigue, cavities, increased amounts of colds and flu’s, depression, seasonal affective disorder, high blood pressure and other subtle symptoms. The only way currently to test for Vitamin D Deficiency is to see your doctor for a blood draw or to do genetic testing, like GeneSnp. Most cases of Vitamin D Deficiency can be corrected with dietary modifications and or vitamin supplements. You need to make sure the vitamin supplements you are taking are actually being absorbed, I recommend the worlds most advanced Nutraceuticals, "Isontonix" because of there rapid absorption. They have been know to be called an IV in a bottle. The increased energy alone is well worth finding out more. And it could save you from some other major health problems down the road.
