As I won't be there on Christmas day, I'd probably not be too bothered - however, it begs the question, as you ask, 'if we can't meet together on that day, when can we meet?' Personally, even though I won't be there, I would feel slightly aggrieved for those who are still around and also for those who like to do their bit on Christmas day! (I will be going to my parents' church on Christmas Day and I'm sure there will be people coming to visit family here who would want to celebrate the birth of Christ!) Now if the question was "should we cancel church on New Year's Day.........

Thoroughly enjoyed the Carols By Candlelight service. What a great band! Richard, I particularly enjoyed your short talk - even for someone that has been a Christian for an awfully long time, it was a refreshing take on the Christmas story! Really encouraged me - thanks!

Similar gripe here! I normally try to buy one at CLC in the City. The only other place I know of that is likely to sell them is Wesley Owen in Kingston. What I would like is a 'proper' Christmas advent calendar with chocolates (preferably Maxwell and Kennedy!). Like the Hovis, it would be the best of both.

Thanks for the encouragement. Some days we just need to be reminded of God's unconditional love and mercy to us. Today is one of those days and this was the right word at the right time.

I have found that the blog has actually been quite useful in helping focus my mind on God each day, even if only for a few minutes. I normally click on links to Bible verses as it helps to give a bit more context and clarity to a verse. I have found in the last couple of weeks that this has been more beneficial in some ways than Bible reading notes (which personally don't challenge me as much as I need to be and I tend to get bored with them very quickly). That doesn't really offer any ideas (most of us, if we are honest, probably 'suffer' from a lack of Bible reading and time with God), but I like the blog and find that I probably read more of the Bible and spend more time with Him each day because of it, than I would normally.

Hmm - this was quite thought provoking for me. I have just had a pre-appraisal meeting with my manager about my aims and ambitions for my career and re-evaluating my role within the company I work for. Then I came out of his office and read this. The thought occurred to me that I can quite happily sit and discuss these sorts of issues on a professional level, but do I do this regarding my Christian life? Probably not! I'd love to be able to say that I would like to make this something that I will do daily, if not at least weekly, but I'm not sure it will happen even that often. However, thanks for the 'nudge' - I shall give it a try.
