Lovely maple. I may invest in one that will flourish here in the spring. Or I'll add another citrus tree or two.
NaBloPoMo #6 2016
The extra hour is a gift. I keep my watch on the Old Tyme so that I can continue being happily surprised throughout the day. The deceptions we allow our fragile souls! I suggested to the household that we spring forward every Monday and fall back every Sunday. He did not think that would fly...
I laughed out loud at Mr. Etherknitter--because I had the same thought.
NaBloPoMo #4 2016
A sleepy morning conversation yesterday, before coffee. The World Series game went too late for people who work. We had gone to bed at 6-3. (Good thing. I don't think my heart could have taken the next four or five innings.) Etherknitter: Did they win? Mr. Etherknitter: Yes. In the 10th i...
It’s absolutely nothing. I just got a new phone and have not had time to move any music onto it.
My old one was so full of Apps that I never used, that i set the new iPhone up as a new phone and have been slowly adding things to it as I need them for the past 6 weeks. I haven’t managed to put any music on it yet.

Not every day
It turns it that writing a blog post it in my head is not the same as sitting down at the computer and actually typing it out. During my few minutes of downtime yesterday I thought about how to answer Carole's Ten on Tuesday music prompt and planned out a rough draft. And then I bought dinner at...
Pretty red leaves. I miss fall color. I even miss snow.

Do you remember when the world looked like this? Moonflowers are a dicey proposition in my hort zone. I buy them early in the spring. They are carted in and out of the porch each night when frost threatens. They get primo real estate in the containers on the deck. Special support stakes a...
It is a challenge. I look forward to hearing what you have to say this month.
NABLOPOMO: Day 1
NABLOPOMO?? What is it you ask? One would think I got the caps lock stuck while drumming my fingers on the keys, but no, it actually a challenge to post every day for the month of November and stands for National Blog Posting Month (a spin off of NANOWRIMO where participants write a nove...
It's a good think I read this after my morning trip to the farmers market. Peaches 48 hours before I leave town for most of a week are a bad idea. Buying the peaches and making peach tatin next weekend, when I will be home long enough to enjoy all of it, is a much better plan.
Summer Wrap-up Randomness
I'm burning the excess energy with home organization. The blog gets residual randomness today. The laws of thermodynamics state that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. The former is accurate, and the latter is suspect. You could rush to point out to me that it is a matter of energy...

Welcome to the spinning fold. I remember my near birthday first spinning experience--that led to some spindles, then a wheel for that birthday, and then another wheel. And a whole new stash.
You Spin Me
I swore it would never happen. I mean really, don’t I have enough to do already. Adding spinning to my list would be crazy. Then Kathy came along. “Hey, you wanna come to spinning with me on Saturday? It’s a great group of ladies and you need to get out of the house.” Hmm… She’s totally righ...
Handknit socks go a long way to keeping this frequent flyer comfortable in the air and when rushing through airports. It's amazing how much easier that is when wearing cushy socks and sensible shoes.
One other bit of advice, check your oversized, overstuffed bag. Please. It makes getting onto and off of the plane much easier for everyone.
The Olsen twins of socks...
Yippee! Something's finished! My travelling project has been Traffic Island Socks in Vesper Sock Yarn (colorway is In the Wildwood) and even if I must say so myself, I think they're darn nifty looking. The pattern is super easy to memorize and I can testify that you can knit it successfull...
If you have time for a stop in Madison, WI, visit the state capitol and Lakeside Fibers. When I was a kid, I loved the Henry Ford Museum and Deerfield Village near Detroit.
Have a great trip!
Favorite Thing Friday: Road Trip
One more week of school for the kids. 12 days of packing and panicking for me until we’re off on our 23 day RV extravaganza. Over 5000 miles and 15 states! I’m not sure if we’ll have the best trip ever or be really tired of each other by the time we get back but either way it will be memorab...
