That first pic is without a doubt photoshopped. Badly photoshopped. As far as the second, it certainly does make it look like Obama has turned his back on Jackson. bad BAD media!

I'm with 14all - capable, intense, and a bit dangerous. I so enjoyed taking my father down a notch when he brought up the $400 haircut (dads a repug) by saying - "hey! This guy was born poor, and made his millions the AMERICAN way, he *earned* it. Why do you have a problem with where he wants to spend his money?" He didn't respond, but will be voting for Thompson. gag.

The turban/dog one was nice, but the photographer one made me laugh out loud. I'm sure the kids liked imitating the photographer. Why no girls, I wonder?

Good call, Bluegrass Poet. Why in heaven's name was she wearing PANTS? (not to mention, *skin tight* pants). What a way to offend.

I see a face - two blood-red eyes, weeping blood-red tears... and with the fan window above it could be an Iraqi woman in headscarf. WAR WAR WAR. Cognitive dissonance abounds. Happy Holidays, y'all. May the new year be less fraught with anxiety and terror.

Wow. W looks AWFUL. Puffy face, puffy eyes... I also like the sly look that Gates (is that Gates?) is giving him.

That final pic of Bush and Maliki reminds me of the famous one at the dedication of the Clinton Library - you know, the one where W is elbowing past the man of the hour (Clinton, who was recovering from his heart surgery), in order to be the "big" "man". I'm not surprised that he did this to Maliki, after M. snubbed him the day before... but, geez, what an insecure looney-tunes W is! Everytime I think that he can't go any lower, he does. Again and again.

FYI - the A&M colors are maroon and white, not red - thus the icky color

I rather like the Hillary pic. For once she looks loose, happy, and unguarded. If that relaxed expression is supposed to indicate drunkenness, so be it. It's a nice expression, IMO.

It's obvious to me what she meant by "not knowing what was going on", and "wanting to document the day". She knew that the planes had hit (and wanted to document her peculiar condition on that fateful day), but was unaware that the building was pancaking at the moment the picture was taken. See, it's easy. You don't have to give her hell for what you don't understand.

First: in the above pic, I didn't even SEE the black woman at first - I thought the white girl was holding something like an iPod for a second. Then I thought, WTF? Living in Texas, where racism is a given, I cannot IMAGINE someone trying to sell something with that image. Second: what's with the 80 hairstyle? That blonde mane piled up to kingdom come? yeech. Third: reminicent of hot girl-on-girl action, especially the other linked photos. Racist? yes, without a doubt. Sexist? That, too. Can you imagine if it was with MEN, instead of women? Xtians would be *all* *over* the ad. I think this is the first time I've commented, but I'm a long time reader. Bag, you rock!

Ummm. I think you mean "bugles blow", not "bulges blow", though the latter makes for some interesting mental imagery... Sravana, sorry that she's a red-pencil Virgo!

Just a note: if it had been a woman breaking into tears re: her cancer, the press would've been all over her for being too emotional and weak for the job. If she wasn't of a certain age, the question would've been "is she on the rag?" I heartily approve of the Bag and the commenters here. This place is an oasis!

Well, as a classical musician (one who is/was a PROFESSIONAL, thank you very much), I have to say that the article gave me some warm fuzzies about Condi. I guess that's because I completely understand the whys of what she's doing with the chamber music. OTOH, I can completely understand the other Bag readers' responses. But I still enjoy this picture: http://derenegade.blogspot.com/2006/03/i-shot-my-mouth-off-and.html (sorry, I can't remember how to do links)

The shirt is called a guayabera (sp?) shirt, and it's classic Mexican casual menswear. Folks wear them in South Texas a lot, whether or not they're Hispanic. They are gawdawfully ugly, but cool in the heat... and traditionally worn out, not tucked in. They make even the most handsome of dudes look dumpy! Chichen Itza is in a jungle - think v. high temps, and v. high humidity. I'd be soaking wet if I wore a flack jacket in that heat.
