Asian pears truly are lovely. It's a shame really that I don't buy them more often. I'll have to remedy that this week. Salads are my first go-to for lunches. So easy to whip up and really flexible when it comes to deciding what to throw in it. Just a few nights ago I made a frisee salad with poached eggs, Irish blue cheese and mustard vinaigrette. Was perfect for a solo supper in front of the computer. :-)

Once, three hundred years ago, or at least three lifetimes ago, I was traveling by train through the Pyrénées. We were somewhere between Barcelona and Madrid, barreling through the stark hills which the locals called mountains. It was hard for my Northwest self to see "mountain" in the modes...
Congratulations Jennie on your newest endeavors. Really bittersweet, of course, but exciting nonetheless. Can't wait for your books to come out! Best of luck to you.

I look at this photo of us, sharing a kiss during a Cape Cod sunset, and it reassures me he was happy. People have a way of losing themselves in parenthood. It's a constant juggle, and often one half of the couple is left feeling they have more than their fair share of balls to keep in the air...
