I'm guessing that your Calendar ID is incorrect. Did you replace the one that's in the script by default?

Hey Jason, this is actually pretty easy. Just look for this line:
event.description = 'Hangout: ' + event.hangoutLink + '\n\n' + d;
and change it to this:
event.description = 'Hangout: ' + event.hangoutLink + '\n\n' + d + 'PHONE NUMBER OR WHATEVER ELSE YOU WANT TO PUT AT THE END OF THE EVENT DESCRIPTION';
No payment necessary!

Hard to say without seeing your code, but if you copied the script exactly as I pasted here, that shouldn't happen. There is a check in there to verify that it hasn't already inserted the hangout link, so make sure that's intact, and that you didn't change the actual text of what it sticks in the description. If you'd like, paste me your code and I'll take a look.

Awesome! Glad I could help! BTW, I've been using this for a year or so now with pretty much zero hiccups (once in a blue moon I get a notice that it failed, but then it picks right back up on its own without me doing anything). It also got me started on other helpful hacks for Calendar and other Google Apps. Periodically going through my team's group calendar and removing all of the reminders that people forgot to disable on events they added like "Jeff working from home this afternoon" and "Erin dentist appointment" was also a big life improvement.

Yeah, CalendarApp is a different API so I don't know that it'd work the same. If you enable the Advanced Calendar per my other comment and use the script as-is I think you should be good to go, but feel free to hit me up if not!

I should have mentioned this in the post, but you need to enable the Advanced Calendar Service for this to work. From the script editor, click Resources -> Advanced Google Services... Find Calendar API and turn it on. There should be a link there to the Google Developers Console (https://console.developers.google.com/apis/library), where you should also enable it (under Google Apps APIs).

Yeah, I'm pretty much out of the fund-your-crazy-idea game too. Coin was one of four hardware projects I funded and while it was the worst result, the other two weren't much better. The fastest fund-to-ship time out of the four was 8 months. I waited over a year for Drumpants (http://www.drumpants.com) and what ended up being delivered was almost as completely useless as Coin. The Roadie Tuner (http://www.roadietuner.com) also took fucking forever, but at least the product works as documented and as shown in the promotional videos. The fourth was a tiny wearable bluetooth module, but I haven't gotten a chance to build anything with it yet.
My experience with Coin, so far
You may have heard of Coin. If you haven't, it's a really interesting-sounding device. It's the size of a single credit card, but it can be used in place of up to eight credit, debit, or gift cards. The way it works is you enter all your cards in to a mobile app and it syncs that info to the car...

The way it works is you enter all your cards in to a mobile app and it syncs that info to the card. The card has a button on it and an e-ink display. You push the button to cycle through your various cards until you get to the one you want to use, then you just use the card the way... Continue reading

Google Hangout links on iOS Calendar
My company has locations in various countries around the world, and our standard for video conferencing is Google Hangouts. We also use Google for our email and Calendars. This is convenient, because when you create a new meeting, Google will automatically set up a Hangout for the meeting and will include a link for the Hangout in the calendar event. Essentially, every meeting you create is a video conference, and everyone is invited without you having to do anything special. Nice. The problem is that the Hangout link is stored in a special field that is unique to Google Calendar.... Continue reading

How to remove the rear wheel of an internally-geared Public bicycle
A few months ago, I purchased a Public bicycle. I'd always dug their bikes - the styling is cool, and the components they use are of good quality. They're good bikes, and they're set up for tooling around a city like mine (San Francisco). My bike is a V7i, with seven internal gears via a Shimano Nexus 7 hub. Last week, I grabbed my bike to ride home from work when I discovered that my back tire was flat. Luckily, we have a small bike workshop at our office, so I threw it up on the stand and got to... Please Tweet Responsibly
This is an interesting era. As participation in social networking becomes more and more compulsary for both individual and businesses, we find ourselves in another one of those weird beginning-of-the-learning-curve periods that makes many of us roll our eyes constantly, while others bang their heads in frustration. Those of us who have been doing this for a while become homocidal when our flow is interrupted by someone who might be a little wet behind the ears, while others try to figure out why they keep getting yelled at. It reminds me of the days when the early adopters had to... Continue reading

HTML5 Canvas Tricks: Transparency mask for eraser effect
I received a comp yesterday for a mobile ad unit where the user would see some "frost" on their screen and underneath the frost is the ad content. The user would use their finger to "wipe away" the frost to reveal the content. I decided to use the Canvas element to accomplish this. With the use of canvas' composite operation, this actually turned out to be pretty easy (although it took me a long time to find it). First, take a look at this rudimentary demo in a mobile browser. Drag your finger around on the screen and you'll see... Continue reading

Hmmm... yeah, it should definitely say "mobile phone connected" when it connects with your phone. Have you tried having your iPhone "forget" the headset and re-pairing it?
iPhone 4s, Siri, and a bluetooth helmet headset
A lot of people have been buzzing about Siri, the super-robust voice command software that's on the new iPhone 4s. It's really slick how you can tell Siri to call someone, or send them a text, or write an email, or read stuff to you, etc.. Today, I got the chance to create a sick and retardedly...
Hmm weird. Mine worked just fine out of the box. The only thing that was a little odd was when I'd ask it to read my messages, it wouldn't read the text of the message unless I had preview turned on, but that sounds like it's unrelated to your problem.
How old is your Scala? Is the firmware up to date on it? Siri DOES get activated when you hold down your home button, right?

Today, I got the chance to create a sick and retardedly awesome marriage of this killer technology with another monster - the Scala Rider G4 headset that my homie gave me. The headset installed in to my helmet fairly easily. The main unit clamps to the helmet on the left and the speakers wires... Continue reading

God he's such an idiot. The WM3 basically did the state a favor by taking this agreement. If it would have gone to trial in December, they'd have been out and would have been able to sue the crap out of the state and everyone involved. I can't believe he still maintains that they are guilty. THERE IS STILL NO EVIDENCE.
Retired Judge Says "West Memphis Three" Are Still Murderers #wm3
(West Memphis, AR) -- The retired judge who handled the original cases of the "West Memphis Three" says the three men are still "murderers" despite their release from prison. Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, Jr. got out of prison Friday following 18 years locked up after pl...

A-fucking-men, brother Garth. It's just fucking strips off the swine, people. Delicious, but it isn't the cure for cancer or impotence.
That said, I sure could go for a bacon milkshake right now!
Bacon has Jumped the Shark
I am so tired of hearing about bacon. Look, I get it. You like the taste of bacon. You'd eat bacon for every meal. You'd eat it in ice cream, on donuts, and in chocolate. Any food in which bacon has not been a traditional ingredient for more than 10 years, you would definitely be game to pu...
