I don't know if they take more or less time, but they are way more enjoyable for me so the time seems to fly. Tiny pieces certainly take longer to put together. In this case, I mostly used pieces as they were or worked from strings. I like improv because I don't get bored and I love the spontaneous things that happen without my planning.
Two in One Community Quilt
These blocks were made before I sorted and bagged all the scraps I talked about last week. This is made my usual scrappy way with imrov pieced blocks trimmed to 9.5 inches. The back is pieced of many scraps. It took a little while to make, but it was better than having to go out and obtain b...
That's cause it's a community quilt and I'm trying to get them finished and out of the house!

What a nice tribute! You described him perfectly. Happy Birthday Dad!
My Pops
Today is my dear old Dad's 70th birthday! My dad is one of the most amazing and interesting people I know. He is smart, funny, friendly and loveable. He has really strong opinions - about life, politics, religion.... This is a picture of him just last August when we spent some time with ...

A Handmade Christmas- Part 1
Secret Christmas knitting continues here, but I thought I'd show you some of my favorite handmade ornaments in the meantime. While our tree is not exclusively decorated in handmade ornaments, the ones made by hand by loved ones as well as skilled artisans are some of my favorites. Enjoy! Cr...

Button Back Pillow Tutorial
I got these three pillows finished the other day. They had been sitting around in various stages of quilting which I finished this week. When I was sewing them up I decided to take some photos to illustrate my technique. There are probably lots of ways to do this, but this is my favorite. ...
Happy Halloween!
seasons
A holiday is a good time to celebrate friends. I have a long list of folks under my crossing paths list. I thought, in celebration of seaons, I would cycle through them once again. Rotate them. Renew the circle...And make the circle bigger since I have never actually completed my linking. S...
So you were the lucky one to get that! It's one of my favorites. I've been thinking about making my own.
the spirit of the masquerade
...just because Halloween is coming...
Oh, I'm so glad you're back. I am going to read all the archives as soon as I get a chance. I got so much out of reading through Spirit Cloth from the very beginning. Can't wait for Cloth Whispering too!
Seams as a design guide
So, I was asking what if I outline the seams of a simple patchwork to form designs, and I have just started to investigate that... I will be back with some of my answers soon enough. Good to be back.
What a wonderful collection. I, too, was wondering how you know about the indigo. I am amazed with all that you could decipher with looking at this rug. I hope it all keeps you warm and cozy this winter.
studio patchwork
My studio is the backroom off the kitchen. A small 14 foot square box with 2 walls of windows, a wood burning stove on the 3rd wall and the entrance to the kitchen on the 4th. No wall space. Just a patchwork of openings. It also has a unique patchwork floor. The section near the back is patch...

Yes, I got some blocks for clamping, but only had two. I like that piece a lot too! I think that rust one was folded, but I wouldnt know how to reproduce it.

Happy Accidents
Results of my shibori experiments were pretty cool. I had no rhyme or reason, just folded some in different ways, rolled the fabric, used rubber bands to tie in marbles, corks and bottle caps. Some interesting results, some I might want to over dye. Overall, it was a fun try at this ancie...
I so look forward to this. Transition is just beautiful! Thanks again for all your time given to us. I appreciate it so much.
finding my true voice
After months of workshops I find myself ready for a slowdown. I have learned so much. Given a lot of my time but also recieved so much in return. I am sitting here with a piece I call Transition, one of the few pieces I have not sold. It feels good to hold it again and remember how it was th...
