"If you're buying your own insurance, you've got your medical info hidden from the gov, but not from Big Insura. Nothing changes." Nothing Changes? How about dealing with a private company of my choosing, vs dealing with the government? You don't see a difference there? If a private company doesn't provide me with the service I want - I go find a company that will. Under the current healthcare nationalization plans if I don't have insurance that the government approves of - regardless of my personal interest and choice - I face fines and prison. And you say "nothing changes." As for ending the obscene profits of the insurance companies I agree. It is obscene that as an industry the best health insurance can do is a lousy 3% margin. Maybe if we de-regulated a little and fostered actual competition between companies they, and we, could do a little better.
