Moving!
Typepad has had way too much down time lately, so I've decided to make the move to wordpress. I couldn't get the same name, but you can continue to follow me at: http://houndmamas.wordpress.com/ I'm still working on the new blog, but so far everything seems to have moved over pretty... 3 DPIUI
On Saturday night, my 20-something cousin fell from the 3rd story of a parking structure at Universal Studios onto concrete. Amazingly, she survived, but she has a long road ahead of her. She’s already had surgery twice, with another scheduled for Thursday and more in the future. I’m not the... Continue reading

Weight Watchers & exercise--the combination has been working wonders for both of us. Plus it helps that we're doing it together. I don't think I'd be as successful if I was doing it alone. It's still hard, though! I am already plotting all of the "bad" foods I'm going to eat on my birthday. Donuts, cupcakes, some form of unhealthy potato... lol
The Unexpected
Hello, dildocam! Lovely to see you this morning. Today is CD 10, and I was back at the RE to see what the Clomid was up to. I expected to see several 14-ish mm follicles and for her to send me on my way with instructions to either come back on Monday for another check, or to do the trigger s...
Thanks! (I wonder if I should go get my hair & makeup done for the appointment...)

Back at it
I had the pleasure of a visit with the dildocam yesterday morning. Actually, I can’t even be sarcastic about that little bugger, because it was kind to me for a change—revealing a fantastic view of a cyst-free left ovary. We are back in business. I’m about to take my 2nd... Continue reading

Positively Negative
My grandma had an organ in her house when I was growing up. She couldn’t read sheet music, but she could play almost anything by ear. Some of my fondest memories of her involve that organ. I’d sit next to her on the bench and she’d play and sing to... Continue reading

Desperate Times
Yesterday was a bad day. A very bad day. I was depressed to the point that I could barely function. I wanted to crawl back into bed, hide in the dark and cry all day. I was struggling not to fly off the handle at work, and barely managed to... Continue reading

The Two Week Wait: Needs and Don't Needs
What the Two Week Wait Needs More of: Vodka. And wine. And possibly also Margarita Mondays. And coffee. And RUNNING. Fast and hard and long. And donuts. If mother nature is going to force me to sit here counting every second of every damn minute until I am curled up... Continue reading

The halfway mark
Part of me is jumping for joy that we’ve made it through half of our two week wait, but a bigger part of me recognizes that it’s MONDAY. Adios, weekend. Back to work. I went in for a progesterone test this morning. Should have the results back later this afternoon.... Continue reading

The Wait: Day 3
Dear Potential Future Baby, I hope you enjoyed the half a bag of discount Easter Rolos that I managed to eat yesterday in between Target and work on my lunch break. Even though I know the color of the foil wrapper doesn’t change anything, I tried to eat mostly the... Continue reading

Wake Me When We're in the Double Digits
It’s amazing how the two week wait messes with your head. It all feels like an elaborate dance. This is so not going to work. And I’m okay with that. But you weren’t nauseous after your last IUI—maybe it’s A Sign. You’re not nauseous this morning, though. It was probably nothing. But that d...

Confessions
I woke up this morning with a calm and overwhelming sense that this cycle just isn't it. I told Catch in the car on our way to IUI #2 this morning, and she said I have to think positive. I'm afraid to think positive, though. I mean, I hope I'm... Continue reading

Here we go again
I had an 8 am appointment scheduled with the RE this morning for a follow up to see whether we had any follicle growth that could result in ovulation this week. Yesterday, I did my OPK test in the morning like usual, and the test was significantly lighter than the... Continue reading

Spring Break – Dildocam Edition!
Catch’s spring break started today. She was going to meet me for lunch—we had plans to go for a walk around the park by my office and then enjoy a little picnic. I’ve been looking forward to it all week. This week has been such a strain, and it was... Continue reading

I am so with you! I just want to lie back on a chaise lounge with a book or 8 and my SPF 1,000,000 and not move for a week!
Weight
Not that kind of weight, though. Being 38 pounds smaller is nothing to complain about. I mean the kind of weight that comes with stress. And life. And the combination of stress and life. Things have been rough at work. I can’t say much more than that. There is a knot of stress and anxiety ...

It's not a race. Or is it?
I have this friend who drives me insane about all things weight loss and exercise. A few years ago, I’d guess that she weighed around 275 pounds. She was tired of not being able to keep up with her young kids, and so she started a program of Weight Watchers... Continue reading

Recovery
It’s taken me some time to (semi)recover from Monday. The other day, I emailed my mom to see whether she’d like to have dinner with me tonight while Catch is chaperoning a dance. I almost didn’t send the email because I knew if she wrote back to tell me that... Continue reading

Cancelled
Picture this: You've had a long, intense, crazy day at work. You leave the office early when you should be staying late just so you can make it to your appointment with the dildo cam and score some clomid. It's the hottest day of the year so far. The car... Continue reading

CD 1 - Let's Just Pretend this Never Happened
I started spotting yesterday afternoon. It was the middle of the work day, and I was so excited that I practically skipped back to my office after it started. I immediately emailed the nurse at the fertility clinic to let her know. I figured it’s Friday afternoon—better just get the... Continue reading
