Yes indeed! The process of Risk Management holds the same for IT Services and its Underlying Infrastructure as it does for Portfolio Risk Management. The key commonality lies in event-driven data from multiple sources that must be connected, correlated and analyzed; often with time as your only universal reference point. Splunk ends up being one of the many data sources behind associating ALL manner of data, from hardware and infrastructure information all the way up the stack to the information of the Transactions/Sessions/Services upon which all of this hardware is running. This is similar to operational data stores, including Hadoop, Cassandra, HBase, and others. that we have accessed in similar systems. StreamBase in its role of a data integration/correlation layer actually then becomes not only a consumer but a feeder to these different data sources. Stay tuned for some forthcoming materials from StreamBase that are going to discuss this exact type of architecture, the challenges that must be faced in addressing it, and how to apply a solution like StreamBase across a general pattern of Managing Risk across a Heterogeneous Environment.
