The Top 10 Audiobooks I Produced This Year: 2018 Edition
It’s been a big year here at "Bright Audio Industries"... launching a surprise attack of John Oliver’s “A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo,” casting new diaries and essays by Dr. Martin Luther King— and recording dearly-departed authors who changed my life, like Nancy Friday, and Midnight Co...
I will have intermittent access to my email this summer, so if you haven't heard from me for a few days, resend your email.

The Cuban Missile Crisis and My Virginity
The Cuban missile crisis in October, 1962 almost made me lose my virginity. When all hell seemed to have broken loose so that the cold war was now on the edge of boiling over, we formed a club called NOSDAV: No One Shall Die A Virgin. NOSDAV. I was a sophomore in high school and that was the...

I Went to Buckingham Palace and All I Got was Annoyed
In the 10 years I lived in London, the only time I was near Buckingham Palace was when we had a Lesbian Avengers demonstration around the big statue installation of Queen Victoria. In 1992 there was a fire at Windsor Castle (owned by the same family, of course), so in 1993 for the first time t...

An evening in London: Pissing in the Train
It is a lazy day, although my evening is over-booked. Despite days in a car during my road trip to Ireland, my feet have still not recovered from the day that I went overboard, touring everywhere with Tomer early in my visit to London. This osteoarthritis bothers me more here in London than ba...

Assumptions on the Runway
There was an unavoidable delay on my flight from Boston to London. Virgin Atlantic handled it with their usual aplomb and good communication. We were on the runway about to take off. The Captain spoke: “I’m sorry but we must return to the gate due to the sudden illness of a passenger.” Flight ...

VENICE: THE BRIDGE OF BOOBS AND OTHER SITES
THE BACKGROUND I am one of the 83,000 tourists per day that the 55,000 Venetians have to put up with. But as there are only two industries here – regular tourism and the Biennale exhibitions, which alternate between art (odd-numbered years) and architecture (even-numbered years), they’re glad ...

Escape from Politics to Tahiti
I've been using my last hours before I set off to Italy to make some Bernie calls to Michigan. A 22-year-old from a poor family has convinced his parents and grandparents to work for Bernie. He was dying to get signs to put around their little town and didn't know how to get them. One woman s...
I was living in the Middle East when you and Honey Lee Cottrell and others were creating a whole new excitation with On Our Backs. But the lesbian telegraph system reached that far and in visits back to the States I would load up with all the issues I could find, and then hide them in my luggage to get them back to the thirsty dykes abroad. This is a wonderful tribute. Condolences, Susie.
Honey Lee Cottrell January 16, 1946 - September 21, 2015
Lee Ray on Ocean Beach, 1970s When I think of Honey Lee, I always see that scene from Casablanca in my mind: "This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” This chapter requires my most personal disclaimers. I lived with Honey Lee for six years, and produced lesbian photography with...
