Oh, I didn't know about Pat's death. I'm so sorry to hear that. Jacquard isn't on my radar, so I'm not much in the "know" about the jacquard weaving community.
Hopefully your plan B will be a success. I usually have to resort to C, D, E, or Z. :)
Plan B
Thinking some more about my two-at-a-time warp, I've decided to sett the plain black warp (originally described here) at 36 epi instead of 48. That will make it 10" in the reed. Then after I weave off the black warp, before I tie the black and white warp onto it, I'll resley to 60 epi. I'm kee...
It's only worth it if you're happy with the result! It's gorgeous and I can't believe it's only taken you 3 months to knit that much of it. It would be more like 3 years for me.
103) Very nearly a Vest!
It's shocking. I used to reckon I'd churn out about one sweater-sized project per month; ten sweaters a year, with a few other things thrown in. This has been on the needles for three months, and it doesn't even have sleeves: OK, it's a bit fiddly, and I have interrupted it for a few divers...
I'm impressed. I love lists too but mine are pretty rude in comparison, just scribble on scraps of paper. My problem is that I keep losing the scraps of paper.
I used to have a friend to loved organizational lists as well. In fact, she once said that her husband would complain that she would take 2 hours to organize a 15 minute project!
102) Time, tracking and TODO!
I'm a huge fan of lists. I write them, sort them, organise them (usually using a spreadsheet - I love them, too!), colour-code them, and then, often, ignore them. I love knowing where I am at a given point in time, but, like so many things, I'm very bad at maintaining the lists I create, so I ...
Good post Alison! I'll bookmark it for future reference!
101) Silk, Spindles, Swag, and So, how do you make those little diagrams, anyway?
Today was the Christmas Special meeting at Rampton Spinners. This one's a different beast from our usual meetings; there is a pot-luck lunch, and P&M Woolcraft come to visit. We generally make it *very* worth their while. I will admit to a certain restraint this year; I stuck to my budget and ...
I love krokbragd too. The patterns are always so fascinating. Your description is excellent. I made one sample a long time ago for a design board and have always meant to revisit it someday for more in depth study. I'll be interested in your experiments.
100) Return of the Krokbragd
I haven't actually woven any more krokbragd since my earlier post, but I've been thinking about it a fair bit. I wanted to explain how this weave actually works, and I've come up with a way of 'virtually' weaving krokbragd that allows me to play with the possible designs quickly, on my computer...
Glad to hear it isn't pneumonia. Hopefully your doctor isn't a "Q"uack. (Just kidding.) Yes, it has been a quiet weekend, but like you, I've been glad for it.
99) Quiet
It's quiet on the blogs today; it has been all week. I think it probably has something to do with Thanksgiving, at least for the North American part of my blogroll. Folks out there are packing, or travelling, or cooking, or socialising. I'm looking forwards to Christmas, so I can do the same,...
Oh no, not pneumonia! That's a horrible "P" word. t least your sense of humor is doing quite well. :)
98) P: Panic, or Possibly Pneumonia, or Planet, fallen-off-of-the-face-of
OK, my alphabet challenge isn't goign to be finished in a month. Surpriiise! I've started a few P-posts, about post offices, parcels, postage, packaging (as in, excessive), but they were all snarky and snide and not really 'me', so I binned 'em. I'd got stuck on 'P', so I was pouty and petulant...
Agreed. Think of it as expanding your creative potential. :)
You're doing a great job with the alphabet, BTW.
94) Looms and... lust?
So I've had my eye on the Leclerc Artisat loom for a couple of weeks now. It folds, yet has a decent weaving width (36"). I'm interested in weaving yardage, so that's really the narrowest I can contemplate. It's available in four and eight shaft versions, with a conversion kit available for t...
I love this! I know it's slow weaving but the result is visually fascinating. Good color choice too.
P.S. Typepad has been fussy lately and hasn't been letting me comment. Again. I sincerely hope this comment "takes!"
93) Kracking Krokbragd, Grommit!
So after extensive re-organisation of the studio, I spent a good chunk of yesterday figuring out how to weave Krokbragd on a rigid heddle loom, with two heddles: My word, I think I've got it!! Krokbragd is a weft-faced weave woven on three shafts. Just like with the 2-1 twill I experimented w...
