Through one of the other blogs i contribute to, The Pyrex Collective, I recently "met" quite the talented lady... ErinInk! I have always loved her blog entries on the collective, and that lead me to her ADORABLE etsy shop. And I could not resist ordering some magnets from her to brighten up my 'fridge! She is SO amazing, in fact, that she even included a 5 x 7 print of my favorite pattern Butterprint! Not only is she sweet, but she did her research. I couldn't wait to show off my new magnets! (please excuse the other clutter) To my... Continue reading

My dear friend Bethany is turning another year younger and she is a lover of theme parties (and let's be honest, who isn't) so she is throwing a beachy/seersucker birthday party. And i was so flattered that she asked me to help her put together the invitations and decor! She had the cutest idea for invites (don't you love the seersucker bow?!) and i played off her great theme and put together a banner for the "party room" i used my cricut to cut out the letters and the crabs and she is using all primary colors. i think it... one of my best friend's called me a few months ago (yes i'm just remembering to post this) and said "hey, i'll be in town tonight... can i stay at your place". i didn't even hesitate to say yes, but then i was faced with the dilemma of what to feed him. he had been driving all day and night and i knew he was hungry but i had nothing to feed him. haha then my creativity kicked in. i had one cooked porkchop sitting in the fridge, and with about an hour to prepare i had time to whip... what can $6 and less then an hour of your time get you? new kitchen decor! i had to return some wedding things to the dollar tree (my mom and i double bought haha) and since they don't give refunds, i only had in store credit. well if you know me, you know i have NO problem keeping busy in a dollar store. i got two frames, two sheets of moss, and two apples... for $6! while the frames were drying from a coat of antique white spray paint i glued the moss to the glass in the frames. and... derek took me thrift shopping (i know, what a catch right?!) and in my hunt for pyrex i stumbled upon THE. BEST. JUICER. EVER! it came with the original instruction manual i thought it was so funny the price they had listed for it... because that's the price I paid for it! haha it has this really barbaric looking arm that cranks the lid up and the cup really needs a hardcore scrubbing... but it sure will look cute sitting next to my turquoise mixer! when i say my sister and i got a lot accomplished during "camp kinkade" i am not joking. she helped me with a few on-going projects i had in the works, and in turn we made her some pretty cool stuff to take home with her. for example... some fabric covered notebooks for school tile coasters (this is the one i made for my friend at the local habitat for humanity. she made a purple one, but i guess i don't have a picture of it. She also showed of her artsy side by coloring a Beatles picture and we... Continue reading

Here at "Camp Kinkade" we want campers to learn how to bake... because let's face it, baked goods lead straight to the heart. we baked almost every day and sometimes we ate the goodies before i could take a picture of them... but nobody is complaining. we started out with some cookie dough brownies we made lots of cookies (not these, but please look at the mess derek made when he decided to bake. and he even said "please don't show my mistake on the blog" too late honey! haha) after making my champagne cupcakes, i wanted to tackle another... derek's aunt is a MASTER seamstress. this woman can sew some of the most amazing things and i and slooooowly learning how to follow in her footsteps. she had the idea for us to do a "sew along" where we work on the same project at the same time and motivate each other to get it done. her idea was a mini-quilt for 4th of july. she sent me the pattern and some fabric to get me started and off we went. i started by carefully cutting out the pieces (and my sister helped while she was here for "camp... It's that time of year again for the Craftaholics Anonymous Christmas in July Gift Exchange!! I participated last summer and got an amazing gift and I swapped again with a partner in December where I sent something and got something great in return! This year I was paired up with Anne from Anne Franklin Designs (and boy does this woman have talent! I had a lot to live up to.) While we were "getting to know" each other I found out she loves pink and green, she has three daughters and she likes anything vintage (just like me!). So I... Continue reading

also known as "breakfast for dinner" in this family (and by family i mean derek, our baby dog june and myself). we LOVE breakfast food, but there's something about eating it at night that makes it so much tastier! white chocolate chip banana pancakes and sausage balls... omelets, tomatoes and spinach i'm getting hungry for brinner all over again! we also tackled the one and only Paula Deen's apple fritter recipe. it looked easy (and delicious) enough. ** time for a side story... i have an abnormal love affair with kitchen gadgets. most recently the rotatoe derek was doubting just... i got a sewing machine for Christmas the year derek and i started dating. i told him i would make him two things: an apron (which has yet to be done) and an Alabama football pillow. well ladies and gentlemen... i have finally lived up to part of my promise: the fabric came from a dress someone gave me that was too big and since Alabama fans love their crimson and houndstooth (which i loved until they "stole" it) i knew this fabric was perfect for the project. i clipped and pinned and stitched and made sure all the buttons... Here at "Camp Kinkade" we want to make sure the top of our campers' heads never get chilly or unfashionable so we teach them how to make their own adorable headbands! We started out with some adorable turquoise silk found in the clearance bin then we found an easier-than-i-originally-thought tutorial online... and got to work and then of course the new owner had to model it (don't let the not-smile fool you... she loved it) then we decided it was too much fun to make just one so i whipped up one my shirt-collar bow headbands cute huh?!
