Indeed, the definition of cloud computing does not make it mandatory to be fully virtual. That said, most clouds today are largely virtualized or moving that way. Both vCO and other VMware management products support physical environments, although our focus is obviously on optimizing the management of virtual environments. And the beauty of automation/orchestration is that it does not require you to replace your existing systems to see value quickly. Instead, it helps you get more out of your existing infrastructure and management systems.
