frosty morning
There are a hundred things that I really should be getting on with today, I've really not got into the swing of things yet this year and am behind with all of my plans and aims. But this morning was a perfect winter morning and much too beautiful to stay inside. So I bundled up in my hat, gloves...
Looks ruddy marvellous so looking forward to watching you make your mark on it Manda xx
Home
Let me show you around our new home a little... It's going to be a work in progress for a long time, but it's so lovely that even while building work is going on it's still going to be possible to make it look nice. Our front door is original (pretty much everything is), and has an incredible st...
How are you doing with Winifreds book Manda is it helping oe are you ever more confused...sometimes freehand is the only way ;) rxx
Working on.
A new jersey top and chambray/linen skinny trousers - still in the prototype stages. The top has bat wing sleeves, that tighten at the cuff and has a large rolled collar, that hangs more cowel like when worn. And the trousers are skinny fit, made from a really soft chambray that has a litt...
Hi Manda
Sounds like you need to grab any of the Winifred Aldrich books esp her ones for pattern cutting for children they are pricey but worth every penny & I know the library has a few. If you make blocks for Bella & Lily your sizing troubles will be over...well until they grow over night :)Rx
Tartan Empire
I'm finally getting a bit more confident with drafting patterns and a lot better at understanding the basic construction. This dress started with wanting to make a skirt out of the Jack Wills tartan that I bought from Fabrics Galore on my birthday. I started by pleating...

My New Collecting Obsession
Not long ago I sold most of my utility chins collection. It's candy colours had lost it's charm to me and someone was willing to buy it. Since then we have been using crisp white china but just recently I have been hankering after some pops of colours. I think i've found in it vintage J & G Meak...

Pumpkins
We don't 'do' Halloween in our house. For a number of reasons but we do carve pumpkins. In fact we love pumpkins in all their multitude of colours, shapes and sizes. When it comes to eating them though forget pumpkin pie it's all about Pumpkin Goulash. We'll be making another big pot full this...

Still Loving Crochet
Well I can't believe how long it's been since I was here last. Lots has been happening. Hubby was 40 last week and we had about 50 people round for supper and drinks on Saturday. Which gave me a deadline to work to on the organising and de-cluttering on the house front. To keep me sane I have ...

I Love Crochet
My lovely friend taught me how to crochet over the summer holidays.I say taught but it was more like re-learning as I did crochet as a child. It seems it's much like riding a bike and has been delightfully easy to pick up again. Ours can be a cold house in winter so blankets on the sofa are a mu...

Glance at any corner in our house and what you will see is a random collection of thrifted treasures. Random corners, then, and some things that are hiding there. Do you photograph the Corners of Your Home too?

Things I Would Love Part 1
Yesterday's post got me thinking of other childhood toys I remember. One of them was a Fisher Price dog that you could pull along and as you did it made a noise. I remember getting into trouble by an old gentlemen who mistakenly thought I was dragging a real dog along and not very gently. As a ti...

Can you imagine my delight as I opened the package and found this little lovely..... I did little skip & excitedly showed the man on his return from zooming his bike through the muddy forest & then sat it on my dresser so i could glance it every time i walked past... Now you may be thinking...

Awww debbie cake & hugs I can fully appreciate your post living in a house with 3 'boys' their laziness is beyond me at least Violet looks like she might be an allie, she insists on putting her shoes away instead of throwing them where they were discarded!! look after yourself chick xx
Dear Family,
I love you, but I could, at least once an hour on the hour, happily slap the living sh*t out of each and every one of you several times over. I love you, but there are several things I don't particularly love about the way things happen here. I don't like the fact that I am cast as the bad-guy w...
Oh Jane sad news I do love tulips Keith has been bringing me various varieties back from Holland its so disheartening when something you've worked so hard on & has quite a significance takes a knock but knowing you you'll salvage it & make something better rx
Why we won't have tulips next year.
Tulips are my favourite flowers - tulips are the reason that I began to grow flowers. Over the years I have indulged my love, I've grown hundreds of varieties. Next year we shall have none. This is one of our tulip beds. The high grade security is due to the deer which were driven by the s...
