Sully likes our blackface growl. We like Sully's (and Corey's and Earl's and Ryan's) joint. The time has come to break sound with friends again and so we will return to the Good Hurt on April 28th. Let's get a little sweaty and do the pagan grind the way we love to, hey? In the past they had rent parties and hellfighter rallies for purposes akin to what we will visit on that Saturday. Be there and meet Dragan, the Black Falcon. I'll see you on the stripper pole. Continue reading

I seem to be having the time of my life. On Friday the prophets wrote eliptically about the end of water and the passing of dark matter through the molten core of our mother- The Black Currents played a show to a room of the very jaded, who left sweaty, and in some cases, giddily drunk. After the show yours truly was approached by a savant who claimed to have written the most difficult bass line known. He was followed by a colony of silver bats that flew in chords behind his head, illustrating the genius inside. His name was... Continue reading

And it came to pass that unto the town of Angeles there was delivered a man called George, and this George slayeth the lower frequencies with his mighty Rickenbacker, and bringeth his Rick among The Black Currents and they were well pleased with the notes and the groove of this man and the muses spake unto them and they were TWO WHO HAD BECOME THREE. Come down to the mighty mighty Good Hurt on Friday the 30th for our 8pm show. George will be there. We really miss the stage so we can def guarantee a sweaty good time for... Continue reading

Sometimes you just need the time to understand. Most times there will never be enough time. Mighty and I hacked community gates in Irvine (key-key-12345-key) and finally walked into a living room that was an angular joke the Freemasons would have told. A woman sat on a beige couch against a beige wall and regarded the flat panel opposite her with heavy-lidded eyes. Her pills paused her against the present and the room was quiet with pharmaceutical waiting. But it was her son we came to see. It's funny how different generations slice the reality pie. Mom was a Pertofrane... Continue reading

At LALive in Eagle Rock (?) your heroes got down and bent sound for a Mr. Richard Duguay who entered his 50s covered in ink and accompanied by his amazing wife Paula and many shaggy rockers. More pics here! Continue reading

Everyone raise a glass toward Eagle Rock on Saturday August 27th. TBC will play for a true believer and hero of ours- Richard Duguay. This is the man who taught yours truly the meaning of volume: you can't really hear a guitar until you can feel it in your chest. Hey Slash! Give Richard back his Black Beauty! Happy Birthday brother. Continue reading

The Good Hurt delivered it's particular amazing flavor for our heroes on Friday night (a light show? fog?). We are grateful for the gig and will be spanking eardrums in your neighborhood very soon. Thanks to all who came out to see us! Continue reading

The triumphant return of your favorite secret agents to the room where they first bent notes... ...and watched people dance on the stripper pole. We have many surprises for those of you who venture out at the witching hour- among them, songs you have never heard, amps you have never gaped at, and above all the monstrous power of Simmer Deane on 5 string bass. That's right- where there were two there are now three. Agent Mighty and I are elated to have an assassin in the band. It makes getting paid so much easier. So lean on your liver... Continue reading

I am trapped in the flow of the bookburners, who start their days rhapsodizing about their beauty (mirror, mirror...) and pull stale images from the pages of approved reading. So every sentence spoken is a sentence served, and time spent is debt paid against the plug iron law of ego unable to scratch it's own itches. Bookburners want the earth to be flat so badly. Sometimes, in the yard between buildings, I let the sun bathe me in the wisdom of matter transforming itself. In the story of the universe, bookburners are the indians on an island shore, unable to... Continue reading

While we were away, Agent Mighty had a son named Indiana and yours truly built a shell company out of trained assassins. We are finishing our album and will soon visit our particular twisted message on the world. Some of you will float away on balloons in astonishment, some of you will shun us the way ice resists the sun, and some of you will start bands. I can't wait to see your faces when the needle hits the record (VINYL!). It will be blue. It will be warm. It may transform. Continue reading

I fought for that parking space and tattooed gangsters clicked their guns. I worried about the best and ignored the fun. I captured living things and set them free too late. I sank my knife into mistakes. And the cars became sand. And the best vanished across land. And life changed it's shape in order to fly. And mistakes were swallowed by the space inside. A wise teacher once told me: know the feeling of power held in reserve. I was in Boston, sitting in the Common, trying to make my future into my present as hard as a person can try to do that. Levitating in the Tesla layer. Sleep came second to burning alive wearing stuffed animals to parties in unfinished houses. Remember whiskey vision? When you were so gone you could see the individual frames captured by your eyes as you navigated some strange stairway? Been there. With you. This was before TBC and missions around the world. Update: Agent Mighty has... Continue reading

We are all dying. All of us. Telomeres separate from your helix and you oxidize. The only way you distinguish yourself from the the pack is with your style. So dying, really, is no big deal. Do you add something to the noise of our species that lifts us up? Or are you a shotgun vampire at the coastline, shooting the salmon who swim upstream on their way to the source? I once knew an agent who used an illness he had to pry people loose from their center, so they could bend to his disease and he could force... Continue reading

(This came in from the one and only DJNYC. Everyone needs a filter- when you bet on, you bet to win- Agent 777) This is such a great album of funk/soul/jazz. If you missed it's release By Ubiquity Records in '07, highly recommend checking it out. Great versions of Funky Nassau, I Get Lifted and It's What You Do. In the North Tower of Notre Dame there is a graffiti dating back to the fifteenth century: "N'importe ou je vole, les fleches me suivent," which translates loosely as, "Wherever I fly, arrows follow." You are beautiful, you are divine, you are open to the world and you build little monuments to the music you hear. Or you sculpt. Or you sing. You lay gifts at the feet of creation and your reward is the shelter you build in the eyes of people you touch. This is both urge and obligation, surrender and sacrifice. You are a channel. Sure, you... Continue reading

All time is happening at once. Which makes your watch the first thing to forget when you need to do anything meaningful. Our neighbors have all been robbed, their computers and jewelry stolen, so we encased our house in steel and light. We need another month here to finish what we came to do and then we can lob a grenade over our shoulders at our HQ and disappear into the next frame of this spy film. Agent Mighty and I enter the blue room today to begin our first full length record. Funny how putting it all down kind... Continue reading

Fulton Allen became Blind Boy Fuller this way. He was on the case, staring mistrust in the face and the air kissed his eyes with acid. Agent Mighty and I were in Shibuya to deliver the Accidental Pistol to Tanaka, who was a weasel for the Tokyo Yakuza. I wanted to get the job done and go guitar shopping in Ochanomizu. Maybe buy a friend for Blue. We were walled in on all sides by throngs of people passing in and out of video. Hiding in plain sight, and for good reason. The Accidental Pistol was a weapon made of... After a long rehearsal session with Agent Mighty in his hilltop aerie, the Bee Palace, the orders came to move. A package arrived this morning bearing one word on the letter inside: "Paris". It included a plane ticket and a cross key. The key is brass and the word inscribed on it is 'Royaume". It looks very old. There is an old story about a lock called the Grenfell Bolt, which was named after Dr. Grenfell, who discovered a three thousand year old garbage pile in Egypt. Among the leather fasteners and other castaway items were papyrus maps and updates... Continue reading

In the renaissance dawn of the Marais the rain fell like bony ash. The gargoyles of Notre Dame gave the runnels of water a sonic contour and Le Stryge, L'Alchemist and Le Démon sounded D, F, and A respectively- a D minor. In a dark courtyard of the Rue Saint-Paul I waited for Mei-Wei and her guardian, known simply as 'Tasker', to emerge from the tragedy of mist to present me with L'Chiffonier Bleu. 'L'Chiffonier Bleu' translates to "Rag and Bone Man" and it is the name given to a string of code that allows a Particle Rendering machine to... Continue reading
