Since I started working on The Design File back about six months ago, my favorite posts have always been home tours. It's so incredibly fun to peek inside someone's space, especially when it's as cool as the home I have for you today. This gorgeous home in Carmel, an upscale suburb of Indianapolis, was sold this past summer for $340,000 (I think that's just a steal!) by Realtor Joe Shoemaker, owner of MacDuff Realty. I love the modern decor. Most of the art and many of the accessories come from Indianapolis-based Inhabit, including the cool seasaw wall flats used in the living room (see detail at right) and the Thatch in Sunshine canvas in the dining room. When I showed you a terrific modern house in suburban Indianapolis last week, I admitted that I left something out -- the nursery. I decided to save the fun room for a post today. I think it's just cool. I love all the textures and details and the way they blend for a sophisticated space. If you read last week's post, you already know I'm a big fan of the textured wall. This house had a similar one in the living room but done with a different pattern. The furnishings have modern, clean lines with a little bit of whimsy and the brown and blue color scheme is a great background for the orange accents. And even the other kid toy colors look great.
