ooh! how very exciting. a few months ago, my 5-year-old got a grim reaper playmobil guy, and somehow we ended up feeling that we needed to play "o death" for him (along with some blue oyster cult, of course), and he fell in love with the whole soundtrack, so we've been listening to it a lot. the track you linked to is so awesome, it makes me feel like i really need that deluxe edition . . . :)

this is klaus's new plant, sherlock holmes. it's a yarrow, also called nosebleed, because it can both induce and stop them. why would anyone want to induce a nosebleed? to relieve a headache. so now klaus wants to learn all about medicinal plants. i love how one random little thing can turn into so much for a little boy. so sweet! i have one like that. it was made by the church my family attended right around the same time, or early 80s anyway. it includes recipes by my mom and both grandmothers, as well as many other women i knew as their friends or my friends' moms. and yes, much of it is not appetizing, but there are some serious treasures in it. thanks for sharing that!

poor klaus. his friend didn't want the wallet. another friend thought it was cool and asked if he could have it, but klaus still cried over the first friend rejecting his gift. poor, poor little man.
beautiful! you made great choices.

yeah, didn't you know? ninjas need wallets. white wallets. klaus asked me to make this for one of his friends at preschool. it was a fun, quick little project. i didn't realize how much i would enjoy making exactly what someone else told me to do, rather than coming up with the concept on my own. it's just white cotton twill, two rectangle sewn together. i folded one edge up to make the pockets, then top-stitched all around the edges and at thirds along the length to divide the pockets and make it not floppy. oh, i tucked the elastic... klaus has been doing a lot of bookmaking. this is the cover of pirateology* and my favorite spread from the book (which also included a dragon, and pirate ship, and miscellaneous symbols): *replicating this book, which he does not have but has looked at many times. the whole series is really cool, and he does have several, but some of them are a little grown-up for him. klaus has also made many montserologies, a lephrechaunology, egyptology, oceanology, and has summer plans for treeology and robberology. i stole these pictures of my mom, from my mom. on the left, sharon and ricky. on the right, sharon and esther (her maternal grandmother). picture frame, target by way of thrift store. the white mat has a round opening for a cd and a square opening for the album art, so i covered that with black (scrapbook) paper, which the photos are taped onto. i have a ton more photos of my family, past and present, that i want to frame and hang on mother's day. i love your other wardrobe color ideas! when i read no-more-navy i thought a light, soft gray would be awesome *with* all your navy, then i read continued reading and was super excited that you had similar thoughts! or ochre. ochre+navy=truelove.
