The tea is tasty, but the repurposed project is enough to scout out for these lovely tea canisters. Source: marthastewart.com via Princess on Pinterest Continue reading

I love the versitility of using kraft paper to wrap presents. If it's for a friend, Vee draws on the paper...and now we can make store-quality bows at home! Source: 100layercake.com via Princess on Pinterest Continue reading

It's a place to sew, listen to music, and reflect. My desk is filled with many projects and tools. A comfy place to lounge and take a break. With lots of reading and inspiration. Continue reading

Hi, Friend. This comes with a money-back guarantee, because chances are, making this flash diffuser will cost you nothing. That's right. Now you can take pictures with your DSLR in low light without disabiling the flash and overexposing your pics in Photoshop. Your pictures will come out evenly, and sharper--no need to put your ISO levels into overdrive. What You'll Need: a plastic medicine cup, scotch tape, a piece of printer paper, and scissors. I'm sure you can figure the rest your own, but here are the steps: Look at the difference between the photos! The lowlight casts a yellowish... Continue reading
Wouldn't this be a fun place to have a sleepover? Now that my daughter is getting older, I think back to all the fun I had as a child... Source: via Princess on Pinterest Continue reading

Ann, Nicole and Katie are available today for your child. I love creating diverse and simplistic dolls that are affordable and sturdy enough for your child's years of play. Continue reading

There is an easy and cheap way to acquire sewing labels and you do not have to wait 6-8 weeks for a custom order. Using Photoshop, Microsoft, or Open Office; one piece of transfer paper; any type of ribbon you prefer (brown twill for me), you can create hundreds of ribbons for pennies on the dollar. The design of your cloth label is only limited by your imagination--so consider using images and fonts and playing with the label's color and size. In this economy, being handmade just may make a comeback--it's proving to be a rewarding investment for me. I... Continue reading

My family is trying our hand out at patio gardening since my husband is now a certified "green" architect and thanks to our pop-crazed society, green is the new black. If you're in Austin and want the experts to start a potted garden for you, check out Resolution Gardens and get to growing. If you're a little haphazard like we are, buy some seeds and spill a lot of organic soil into your pots, your shoes, and the expanse of your patio. We planted tomatoes; basil; and rosemary the first round, yielded three tomatoes the size of raisins--one of which... Continue reading

Inspired by Betz White's "Ring-of-Roses" wreath, I made use of the tons of craft felt I have and made a sweet wreath to ring the holidays in. I'm thinking rosette wreaths, ring streamers, buntings and more this Christmas. Continue reading

Which should really be named AB&J for almond butter, but anyhow...When I look at foods that possibly have too much sugar and may have an alternate, I was happy to find natural peanut butter a viable option. Now that being organic is hip, we have a natural bulk foods section in our local grocery store that makes fresh peanut and almond butter at hand. I tried the natural peanut butter and liked it very much. I tried the almond butter and was enamored. The price per pound is enough to cringe at ($7.99) but thanks to my aunt's Magic Bullet... So I was checking out The Crafty Crow for some preschool activities (man, I catch myself still writing toddler, sniff.) and found a tracing activity for Vee. Her Cup Overfloweth provides the shapes page and shows how your kiddo can trace with stickers. Cool, huh? Well, since Vee used all of her stickers to randomly decorate her mommy and dad's clothing--Lamour even went to the store once decorated and wondered why people were looking at him funny--we opted for stamps and she had a good time tracing the triangle with ladybugs. Stamping shapes is hard work and we both agreed... Continue reading

It took some tweaking, but here they are: doll shoes made of wool felt to complete the outfit. I think she's pleased. I made my own pattern, but here's a link to a free pattern for you to try. When I got the sizing right, the sewing part is a cinch. I may make some slippers for Vee later... Continue reading

Hi All, Since Austin pays no mind to seasons, we're still growing tomatoes and radishes. There were a few days of frost that froze our tomatoes, but with the radishes growing underground, they sustained. So here's one of the few random radishes that we're growing in December! Come summer we'll have a full crop of veggies on our balcony. Continue reading

Look at what my little artist made with crayons: a house! We took this picture and thought it would be cute. And shortly after we took this picture and thought that this would be more fitting (how she managed to get her feet like that, I don't know!) On a side note, my mother and I took Vee to see the "Princess and the Frog" and it was a big pot of stereotypical gumbo. We were so disappointed. A lot of butt and toilet humor, bad accents and overused slang, mixing voo-doo with the Baptist church, and the worst part--the... Continue reading

The one thing that makes me smile when I unload the dishwasher is to see the vibrant arrangement of vintage Pyrex that awaits me to display artfully around my kitchen. Serving food in them adds a homey touch and I find that creating a collection of various colors makes for a pretty display. You can find this Gooseberry set here. A pretty gold set. This set is just like my mom's A pretty turquoise bowl. Continue reading

It's cold outside (a frigid 40 degrees in Austin) and Vee and I continue to come up with ideas to keep from going stir crazy. Yesterday we made a bean bag toss, which was really easy to make and something that we did completely together. Step One: Make four palm-sized bean bags out of craft felt. Sew or hot glue three sides, fill lightly with beans. Seal shut. Step Two: Roll out some freezer paper (I love freezer paper, there are endless uses for it!) and draw circles with numbers on the paper side. You can also use your leftover... Continue reading
