Ever since Natural History was founded we’ve been asked where our collections are stocked in real, bricks-and-mortar shops and special online stores. Over the next few weeks we will be publishing Q&As from some of our favourite stockists across the UK, gaining an insight into their inspirations and passions. We’ve been speaking to Jane McIntyre of Jane McIntyre Design in Winchester. Jane sources products from around the world, carefully selecting bed linen, lighting, furniture and other home accessories of unusual yet beautiful design, and showing them off in her Georgian town house turned quirky retail space. How would you describe... Continue reading

Surface View have a wonderful new Natural History collection, inspired, just as we are, by antique encyclopaediae, vintage botanical prints and cabinets of curiosity. From delicate studies of ferns and trees to bright birds throwing curious shapes and macabre and mysterious skulls, there's something for every taste, and it's an easy and affordable way of updating a plain wall. Scarlet Ibis, Eudocimus Ruber by J J Audubon (Plate CCCXCVII from Audubon’s 'Birds of America', 19th Century coloured engraving) Copy of De Materia Medica made by the Greek physician Dioscorides in 1460 Plate 160 from the John Reeves Collection of Botanical... Over the next few weeks we will be publishing Q&As from some of our favourite stockists across the UK, gaining an insight into their inspirations and passions. This week, we’ve been speaking to Vicki Luther of Luther & Co Luther & Co sell an eclectic and carefully-curated range of homewares, art, furniture and gifts in beautiful Conwy. We love fireplaces here at Natural History, even in Spring and Summer when they're in temporary retirement! We'd love to see how you dress your fireplace - send us a photo at info@origin-of-style.com and tell us about it. We'll feature our top picks here on our blog in April - you can then vote for your favourite and the winner will receive a set of four large leather notebooks worth £200. Here's our director's fireplace at her Oxford home, featuring budding hyacinths, Kathy Dalwood busts, vintage silver candlesticks and her favourite Astier de Villatte candle. Her house is full of... Since the beginning of this year, Natural History has been stocking more and more international stores. Wonderful as it is to see our designs in all the fantastic UK shops we stock, from Graham and Greene to Liberty, from the Burford Garden Company to Merchant Archive, it's fascinating and very exciting to imagine the products further afield, now that we are carried in the US, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and all over Europe. K11 Design Store, Hong Kong Over the next few weeks I'm going to highlight some of our new stockists because I know that many of you are... Continue reading

Tomorrow we are getting our tree. I am very excited about this for a number of reasons. 1) The obvious - it's Christmas and we're getting our tree! 2) Our older daughter is nearly three and for the first time is aware of Christmas going on around her and is VERY interested and excited about it all, without quite knowing why and 3) this year I get to steal liberally from Natural History to decorate said tree! That said, I can't wipe myself out - orders are still pouring in so I don't want to put myself in a position... Continue reading

It's completely thrilling - in January, Natural History will be exhibiting at Maison et Objet. Not only that, but we are going with the amazing Rory Dobner and we will be sharing a fabulous stand together on the red carpet in Hall 6. Maison et Objet is *the* international show for interior design and I went last January as a spectator and was completely blown away by the variety and standard of design there. The show is unbelievably big and bustling and you have to be very focussed on what you want to see so that you don't burn out... Continue reading

I have been dreadful in the last couple of months about the weekly roundup, but I promise that it is now back and every weekend we'll have a look at the fabulous posts that went the week before... Christmas is definitely in the air with amazing Christmas cookies, festive colours and a wonderful post about decorations, but wonderful interiors aren't being forgotten either with cushions and armchairs (and magazines to read while curled up in them) - Pinterest (of course - the joy of every blogger) and work (from me, naturally) round things off. I hope you enjoyed your Natural... Continue reading

Natural History is so busy these days that I have to be forgiven if work is frequently on my mind. We have only been trading for 18 months and 2011 has been an extraordinary year in so many ways. We started exhibiting our own designs at the London trade shows and our products are now in 60 shops around the UK and Europe - our Entomology notebooks are even in the Liberty Christmas window! Our products are in countless magazines and newspaper every month ranging from The Guardian to The Lady, via World of Interiors and more with thanks to... Continue reading
