Today has been a day of letting go. I closed down my website, A Peaceful Path. I stopped my subscription to Mad Mimi (goodbye newsletter). I copied all my previous blog posts (in case my grandchildren are ever interested) and after this post is published, I will close The Peaceful... Continue reading

Have you ever been on a road, so sure you knew exactly where you were going and what to expect and then...... when you least expected it, a detour sign appears right in the roadway? And all your plans are at least momentarily changed. For most of the last decade,... Continue reading

It's been almost a decade since I walked away from my "real" job and began walking into what I labeled as my "real" life. In some ways, ten years have seemed to stretch into eons of time; in other ways, they have passed in a moment. Just like life. When... Continue reading

Thank you all so much for taking time to explore this with me. I think the comment several of you made about "labeling" really hit home with me. I didn't even realize how often I label every thought. So I have opened this part of my life to some fresh air and you have offered a fan! thank you :)
Kate - thank you so much for sharing. I just want to paste this comment up and read it all the time: "the real secret is to love oneself exactly as we are @ the moment and talk sweetly and kindly to ourselves." What perfect advice.
Oh Angel - so much to think about in this - I love your suggestions and this is exactly what I had hoped for - some fresh ideas. And the blue jay post is amazing! I love them too. Thank you so much for sharing :) I'm off to notice.........
These past weeks have been filled with re-addressing issues I had assumed were long resolved. I guess it would be highly evolved for me to express gratitude for the opportunity; but seriously...... who does that? Mostly I have just felt overwhelmed and confused. About a year ago, I held a... One of our biggest adjustments in moving to Austin will probably only be understood by those of you who live in Southern California. It sounds crazy to the rest of the real world, but we are having a hard time getting used to, well Los Angeles is the land... Continue reading

I just love your observation that misplacing is different than being lost - I hadn't exactly thought of that but it is so very true and you are right - not so scary. I am continually amazed that what I am so afraid is a unique, misunderstood experience is actually something so many of us share. To me, that is the most important benefit of sharing - to not feel so alone. huge hugs :)

Two nights ago I was lying in bed, thoroughly engrossed in a novel. As I turned the page, these words began the next chapter: "There are several ways to react to being lost. One is to panic......Another is to abandon yourself to lostness, to allow the fact that you've misplaced... Continue reading

Hi Joy - lovely to have a friend on this journey.<3
I have just realized that one of the advantages of having my own somewhat public place here in cyberspace is that it allows me the opportunity to write whatever I want. I say that because I have just reviewed the obituary written for my aunt and although it contains all... Continue reading

You are so right Meredith, I think the ultimate lesson in all this for me is to become more familiar with those kinder, gentler ways. huge hugs!
What great insight - I love "your aunt is still gifting you". Thank you so much for your lovely words and for those good vibes!
Last week on Valentine's Day, New Earth Daily included an article I wrote for their launch. Tell me a story - the intention had flowed straight from my heart into text on a computer screen. It seemed so easy. Little did I know that six hours later, my life would... Continue reading

You know, the best thing is we can start a new story any time we choose :) Thank you so much for sharing your moment.

On a yoga mat, under a fuzzy fleece blanket, I breathe. Deeply, again and again. I'm no longer conscious of the time, only of my breath, secure in the guidance of the leaders of this breath work class. My lungs fill up and release, having finally found a rhythm that... Continue reading

Hi Sandy, so very happy to meet you here in cyberspace and to have a little apartment in your IPad :) Stumbling is my path of choice - isn't it just delicious to be surprised? Lovely to have you as a friend on this journey. Karen
Oh Helen, I couldn't ask for a better traveling companion for this journey! Maybe we should start a 12 step for recovering list makers? Sending you tons of love, Karen
thanks Andrea - love to you in Winnipeg! Happy New Year - however it comes :)
Yesterday was a travel poster day in Austin - bright blue skies and warm air. Yet I spent the entire day on the sofa under a blanket, self-medicating with cheese grits straight out of the pan while watching "Eat, Pray Love" on mute. Of course I tried to analyze my... Continue reading

A few years ago, I behaved badly. Maybe unconsciously would be more accurate, but the bottom line was that I really hurt two people by not being aware of my actions. At the time, I was so sorry but also filled with so many excuses. Okay, this is too ambiguous;... Continue reading
