New York: View from the rooftop of the Standard Hotel Inspiration: I spent last evening hanging out with friends on the rooftop of the Standard Hotel. The night was so breezy and balmy that when I closed my eyes, I felt as if I was on a beach in the Caribbean. But when I opened them . . . Bam. New York skyline. Continue reading

New York: New York Harbor Inspiration: As much as I love to travel, nothing beats the feeling of flying over New York and knowing that you are back home to one of the best cities on earth. Continue reading

Utah: From above Inspiration: Sometimes you need a different perspective to truly appreciate the planet on which we live. For an even more dramatic point of view, check out The Photodiarist in Color. Continue reading

New York: Gramercy Park Inspiration: Tulips are one of my favorite flowers (topped only by Peonies and orchids). I know that I should have rendered the photo in color (they are a pale yellow tinged with red) but black and white makes them so dramatic looking! Continue reading

New York: Chinatown from Manhattan Bridge Inspiration: Remember when I said I was stuck on the bridge last week? Here another photo from that mini-photo shoot. On this side of the bridge lies Chinatown with a view of the Empire State building in the distance. Continue reading

New York: Downtown Manhattan from the Manhattan Bridge Inspiration: I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the Manhattan bridge yesterday . . . so I pulled out my phone and snapped some pics so as not to go nuts while sitting there FOREVER. Continue reading

New York: Washington Square Park Inspiration: I love Spring. It's like a getting a present . . . a box filled with things you haven't seen or tasted in months. New grass, new flowers, trees with new leaves, people filling the parks and the streets, new fashions in store windows . . . love it. Continue reading

New York: West Village Inspiration: Today is the end of the most beautiful weekend all year. The weather was incredible: not too cool, not too warm. A perfect day to wonder around with my camera - something I haven't done in ages - and something that I've really missed doing. Continue reading

New York: From the Air Inspiration: I have been a busy busy bee lately . . . albeit a busy bee who's been grossly negligent about posting on my blog! When I neglect my blog, I feel like I am abandoning a good friend and I feel terrible! In any event, I've been working on a number of projects and flying around the place. Here are a few photos from one of my flights to (or from) New York. Continue reading

New York: Gramercy Park Inspiration: All week long, weather people told us about another Lionesque Noreaster that would slam New York. Yet every morning I woke up to clean streets. I lugged my snow boots to work all week having been previously caught in a storm with only heels to get me home. Well . . . on Friday morning we finally saw snow. But by Friday at lunch time, it was gone! Continue reading

New York: Central Park Inspiration: Frankly, we got lucky in Manhattan. For the first real snowstorm of this winter season, Storm Nemo delivered Manhattan just enough snow to create beautiful photos and lots of fun but not so much as to be devastating. That said, I cannot speak for the outer boroughs or Connecticut, certain parts of which received 30 whopping inches of snow! Continue reading

New York: Manhattan Bridge Inspiration: I found this photo in my archives of unposted photographs this evening. It's two years old but I still like it. There's something cool about those beams of light hitting the water! Continue reading

New York: Gramercy Park Inspiration: The past two mornings have been unseasonably warm and misty . . . But quite beautiful. On another note, have I mentioned that I've seen John Galliano working out with a trainer in my gym three times now? The first time saw him, I thought it was a guy who looked eerily like JG. But now, this morning, after seeing him inches away from me, I know for sure. I've read he is in town working with Oscar De la Renta. I really hope the rest of the fashion cognoscenti relent and allow this genius... Continue reading

Vienna, Austria Inspiration: Three weeks after my trip to Vienna and I am still inspired by the gorgeous winter light I encountered there. This sunny woods was right in the middle of the city, which is why I refer to this as an urban oasis, albeit a wintry one. Continue reading

Vienna, Austria: St. Charles Church in Wieden Inspiration: I loved the architecture . . . I can't believe that three weeks have already gone by since my trip to Wien! Have to start planning my next trip! I think I want to go to Berlin. Continue reading

Vienna, Austria: Hofburg Castle Grounds Inspiration: During this entire trip to Vienna, I was pretty amazed by the light. It was gorgeous at all hours of the day. I only have a few more Vienna photos to share and then I guess I ought to get back into photographing the ordinary little things happening in my own town . . . Continue reading

Vienna, Austria: Universitat Wien (Vienna University) Inspiration: The architecture in Vienna is imposing and powerful. If we were talking about only a few buildings in this vein, then maybe this one would seem merely gorgeous. But when almost every building in the immediate vicinity possesses this imperial quality, then you see why Vienna conveys such a regal and somewhat haughty air. Continue reading
