You are reaching in, pulling yourself up, climbing out, every single day, whether you know it or not. The warmth is just around the bend, and this is going to be the best summer you have ever had... I can feel it!!
Buds and birds and . . . beginnings
"Buds and birds and . . . beginnings." ~ S. Kurz That line is such a simple, perfect expression of spring, and I'm desperate to get to that place. Not just on the outside but on the inside. When winter lingers in my heart too long, I get stuck. Frozen in a place of numbness so hard to br...
"...why do I see the picture of failure so much more clearly? Because I choose to." Nice. So true. I see the way you reason through things and the way you pose a question to yourself and then answer it so beautifully in how you live your life more and more every day. Keep going, grasshopper... You are the change you want to see in the world!
Fear of Failure
"Do one thing every day that scares you." ~Eleanor Roosevelt I am one of those people who thinks 10 steps ahead before I make any kind of decision. Sort of kills the notion of spontaneity sometimes, but, even in high school, I was always the one in the group afraid of breaking the rules. I ...
And I love that pic! Juice!!
Finding Your Mojo
It always surprises me. How easy it is to lose something so important. Maybe it's thrown in the backseat next to an empty water bottle or it slipped out through that hole in your pocket you've been meaning to sew. It happens slowly, over time. Scattering like pieces of a puzzle you forgot y...
The blue typewriter!! Wow. Nice callback! I have always loved your writing and envied that you had it-- such a powerful touchstone to return to when you need to find your way. I hoped I was right when I suggested this as a first step on this new path, and I am so happy to be on it with you this time! A little bit of your mojo has rubbed off on me...
And... "I do not repeat myself!"

I couldn't agree more. Reminds me of our trip to CO all those years ago. A beat up old truck and two hopeful souls. We should all be so lucky to have experiences like that (let alone siblings!) Let's start a REVOLUTION! Tracy Chapman gets it.
Open Road
There's something about being on the open road that clears the senses, makes things new again. Fresh air, green grass, the intoxication that lingers when half your view is open sky. And so your journey begins today, much like any other day. The road to discovery and truth. There is no map, j...
"...wields the greatest power and is the simplest declaration of our strength." Beautiful. And also the the hardest thing to attain. I feel like we're always "trying out" new voices until something galvanizes us... makes that voice whole. Little man has done that for you. Watching you grow into yourself every day is a treat. And gives me hope that someday I will find my voice, too. Great blog. My favorite so far!
Voice
When I think of the word voice, I don't just think of the sound that comes out of someone's mouth when they speak. I don't think of a certain song or the way a singer's voice resonates as their words echo through the speakers of my radio. I think of something vast, like an ocean, that lives ...
So sweet. Isn't it amazing how many people take those things for granted. You are the most amazing family. You guys make me so happy every day!
The Little Things
Little Things I live for the little things. The tiny bits of grass that pop up between cracks in the pavement, watching the golden streaks of sun kiss the sky goodnight, the way my son's hair curls around his face after a nap, and finding matchbox cars hidden in random places throughout the h...
This is so well said, and the sentiment rings home painfully true. You really do express yourself so beautifully. I miss your writing-- J, too. This is a new start I am so looking forward to! Thank you! Love you!
Old Patterns. Fresh Start.
When I sit down to write, I'm usually trying to work through something, find a way, figure something out. But I'm not really sure where to go when there are no good answers. I'm learning to accept that I cannot change people. Something I have always known but not always handled gracefully. ...

What a great shot! And the perfect way to come back. I remember when you texted me from there and said you were bummed and calling it a day, and then how awesome and spontaneous it was when you guys shifted gears. Just goes to show you... you can always turn things around!
Bursting at the Seams
This is one of my favorite photos ~ one of my favorite memories. J, the dude, & I took a road trip to Minnesota last September. We stayed in a hotel with a pool and an awesome mini splash area that the dude loved. He loved it so much & played so hard, that he was pretty tired whenever we ve...
