Random Christmas Art Projects
As you know, we've been mad for Christmas-y "art pwojects" over here. With no movies or internet on Sunday's now, I've gotten into a great habit or preparing something Saturday night so we have a little project for Sunday afternoon. There's plenty of free form coloring, cutting, pasting and st...
Thanks! Your msg made me think how cute one would look on top of a child's gift instead of a bow! Great bathtub toy, too!
Cheap & Easy :: Cork Boat Tutorial
Before you call CPS about this, we don't actually drink, but I asked my Aunt to start saving her wine corks for us and just one week later we had ALL these! Okay not really, it took her a long, long time to collect this many for us (thank you). In fact, I actually came up with the idea of m...

Conversations with a 5 year old :: 10
We were all snuggling in bed a few mornings ago... Huck: You're mine Mom. I'm not letting you hug or kiss Daddy anymore. Only me. Stephen: Nice. I think it's time for LIttle Oedipus to get ready for school. Huck:... Continue reading

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. Continue reading

Huck 2 best buddies from the neighborhood, Jon & Finn, go to a different school. Not a big deal for Huck but I've been curious about who he's gravitating toward in Kindergarten this year. Me: So are Jacob and Austin... Continue reading

Wow. For a "seasoned writer, blogger and counselor of mind/heart/spirit" you have a very harsh communication style. Clearly knowing nothing about how Heather's family allocates their other money (not having cars, TV, Cable, and other major expenses many people choose to take on) you made some very negative comments about her choices. Her lifestyle is void of empathy? Not grounded in reality? Generated from a very small space? Man. All because 4 words rubbed you the wrong way?
Quite the spirit healer. Best of luck with that counseling stuff. I hear it takes tact, but maybe not so much as I thought.
$400 month of october grocery challenge
This is going to be hard, but not impossible. I'm nervous that it won't work out, and I'm not claiming to have a great formula for success here. But I am willing to try. For the month of October I will spend no more than $400 on groceries. And you know me, this is going to happen while maintai...
I also currently spend $800 a month on groceries. I live in the mountain west and there is only 1 grocery store with in 40 miles of my home. We pay a premium, and I mean premium to live deep in the mountains. Grocery cost WAY more out here. My family from the DFW area in Texas are always amazed at the price differences.
We make far less than most people but we do not need clothing for work, we work from home so spend way less on gas, and don't pay for any TV, cable, XM radio, dish, etc. So MUCH less on home entertainment than most Americans. My point here is that spending more on groceries doesn't neccessarily mean you have more disposable income. It just means you spend what income you have in different ways.

A Moosey Morning
Tuesday morning Huck was late to school, Jemima was late to daycare and Stephen and I got a late start on our writing work. Why? A family of moose, a Mama and her 2 babies, decided to come over for... Continue reading

Braiding Onions
Well, as I said, onions were one of my big garden success stories. I didn't plant too few, or too many, they grew well and didn't get any little buggies. I harvested 26 nicely sized medium yellow onions. Of course,... Continue reading

Recap of Hysteria's Toronto Film Festival premier
For starters, it was AWESOME! There were a few bumps along the roadin the days leading up--A self-tanner accident that required 3 days of scrubbing my legs with lemon juice, and some anxious over-plucking of my eyebrows--but in the end,... Continue reading

How Did My Garden Grow?
Pretty well, thank you very much. This is my first garden bigger than a kitchen window sized thing. It took us almost 3 years to get the area ready. Year one Stephen did most of the hard work of prepping... Continue reading
