Richard, I can tell you also that Carhart didn't even bat an eyelash when asked. The only reason I got involved (I'm Seavey) is because of rules govering charitable giving from companies that also do business with the DoD. Carhart was awesome in this, and they didn't even make a big deal of their huge contribution here. So good on them. I know that my coworker who handles the Legion's Twitter is sending this out today occasionally.
Legion and Carhartt Take Care of Those Who Care for the Fallen
Sgt. Ruben Troyer, senior horse trainer, Caisson platoon, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), gives Rambler, a Caisson horse, a reaffirming pat on the head after a successful training session at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va. As part of the training, Troyer ensures each horse is ab...

Shave and a haircut and 220 volts for Hasan
It was a disgrace to allow this mass-murdering,Islamist terrorist dirtbag to run around with chin whiskers for as long as he did. But at least now, he has been squared away. Maj. Nidal Hasan began growing a beard in the years after the November 2009 shooting that left 13 dead and 30 wounded. The...

Another guy who should STFU about bin Laden raid
UPDATE: His name is out, but that is not important unless you are him I guess. There have been a number of misconceptions in the comments about why I think this guy is a jackass. Here is my response. OK let me be clear. Heh. I have not said that this guy wrote anything in the book that is inappr...
Alas, I am relegated to only one mention by Teh Yon, and that was largely indifferent. Which hurts my feelings, because I think he is batshit crazy, and opine on that belief nearly daily.
Mike Yon - Some History and (a ton of his) Hysteria
Over here at Chromed Curses is the explanation/history of Michael Yon's fascination with CJ Grisham. ...Yon put on his Drama Panties and declared (and still declares to this day), that CJ threatened him and has homicidal ideations... So read that to get an idea of where the Yon- Grisham thing ...
I'm with you Froggy. Just to review, DHS says returning vets should be regarded as a potential threat. Justice says threats to the US, even among citizens, can be determined by the executive, absent ANY legal recourse, with lethal action.
I hope no tea partiers, veterans or Sarah Palin (for instance) vacation in Belize.
The three prongs that Holder put forth all seem to be actionable, and justiciable by the Executive Branch alone. Why anyone would think that is a good idea is beyond me. I have no problem with killing Awlaki, but like Froggy, I would prefer this done in a FISA court.
Universal Jurisdiction & Targeted Killing
Our Attorney General Eric Holder and I do not see eye to eye on much of anything, but I may have to join him on one issue. He will be unveiling the Obama administration's legal rationale for targeted killing of terrorists, including that of US citizen Anwar Awlaki, today in a speech in Chicago. ...
That dude couldn't look more like a queen if he was caught coming out of a rest room with Andy Dick and Big Gay Al.
Brave? Hardly. Unprofessional? Absolutely
Over at This Ain't Hell is a photo of a welcome home ceremony where two male Marines (one in uniform returning home apparently) are kissing. And it's not just a kiss... If any event marks the day the military’s gay ban was really over, it came last week, when Marine CorpsSgt. Brandon Morgan, i...
That dude in the red shirt is one sexy bastard.
Also, I have a better picture of Goblin.
Heroes and Horses 2012
The video above was filmed during this trip that I reported on. Below is the very first class photo from this summer. Attending are Navy SEALs, Marines, Paratroopers and Infantrymen. Some have Silver Stars. Some have Purple Hearts. All are heroes. The 2011 first class of combat veterans. All ...
Thanks Matt.
But let's be honest, Goblin did have one righteous Thor's Hammer of a cock though. It had so much gravity from its density that it kept pulling my eye into its orbit.

Wounded Warriors - US, Brits, and Aussies Compete for spots in the Warrior Games
Damn, these guys are my heroes...US Marines (and some Brit Marines and Aussies, too) are competing for the limited spots in the Warrior Games coming up this May. Capt. Jonathan Disbro and Cpl. Kionte Storey, Wounded Warriors with the West Team, fight for the lead in the 200-meter race during t...
Although it was nice to see that Bob, that case will be moot here in 3 weeks when the Supremes take up Alvarez. Granted I liked the decision, but not sure it will have any long-term effect. Hopefully the Supremes will rule the same way, but I am not optimistic.
FAKE SEAL and Special Operator Busted

I'm confused about one of the YouTube comments:
"Who the hell is this gay lord puppet think he is"
I don't know what this means. Are you a puppet master who only has gay puppets? Or are you a gay puppet? Or are you a puppet, but an exalted one, sort of the Grand Foobah of all Gay Puppets? And, are gay puppets (and strait ones) imbued with some sort of self-consciousness? Were you spawned in a basement by a lederhosen/Beegies listening Gepetto?
Have you, Jimbo, ever taken another another puppets wooden schlong in your hand/mouth or other orifice?
Krugman v. Rumsfeld
Paul Krugman & Donald Rumsfeld went at it online regarding American shame about our responses to 9/11. I think it would go very poorly for the pencil-necked, Nobel nerd if the Rummy Kung Fu was unleashed on him. On the undercard, Alyona and I argue about the topic and America's overall repugnanc...
If the bill said that, or was limited to uniformed personnel (LEO types) or any number of other limitations, it might be perfectly fine, but that isn't the way this bill is drafted.
Is Civil Service The Same As Military Service? NO!
UPDATE II: The bill has been pulled for now. More later if and as it develops. Well, according to some in Congress, yes, it is. In point of fact, not only is it the same but the honors at a funeral should be the same in terms of a flag draped casket and the presentation of a flag. TSO over ...
SoldiersMom, those folks are already eligible:
Federal civilian employees who die of injuries in connection with their service with an armed force in a contingency operation are eligible to receive a United States flag. 10 U.S.C. § 1482a.
So, this bill would not change the hypothetical you pose here.

RangerUp Needs You (in Chicago)

From TSA:
I write to you today on behalf of the Office of Disability Policy and Outreach (ODPO) at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). ODPO has partnered with various disability-related organizations to facilitate mutual understanding and the exchange of information regarding travel concerns of their constituency. This coalition of over seventy (70) groups and organizations was formed to assist TSA better understand the concerns of persons with disabilities and medical conditions. This coalition continues to play a vital role and has, in several instances, raised concerns which have assisted TSA with the evaluation and redrafting of procedure. It has also helped TSA identify areas in which to focus and provide additional training.
ODPO’s function compared to other similar Federal entities is unique. ODPO reviews, investigates and adjudicates complaints that allege discrimination on the basis of disability by TSA stakeholders. As a result, this may include issues that relate to our service members as well as veterans such as the use of prosthetics, traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition, ODPO serves as the primary point of contact within TSA for the disability policy agenda of the Department of Homeland Security.
Furthermore, TSA has partnered with the Department of Defense and developed procedures for our wounded warriors through TSA’s Military Severely Injured Program. The purpose of this program is to support and facilitate the movement of injured service members, and their accompanying family members, through the security screening process at the nation's airports.
In furtherance of our commitment to those who also have a primary responsibility to secure our country as well as those that have done so in the past, we would like to initiate contact with your organization, and similar organizations, to develop a similar alliance. ODPO would like to open an ongoing dialogue with willing organizations regarding travel-related interests of veterans with medical concerns, as well as active duty military personnel, and their families. We would also like to let you know that we are available to respond to your constituents’ informational needs—whether it be via teleconference or in-person presentations at your meetings, conferences or conventions.
We would be interested in discussing your organization’s participation in this alliance at you earliest convenience. ODPO envisions the alliance serving as a forum to gather and exchange information related to travel, to gather input from organizational constituencies regarding issues of mutual concern, and to collaborate with the leaders of these organizations to address those concerns.
Sincerely,
Bryan W. Hudson, Esquire

TSA And Amputees
I am going to sit on what I would like to say right now, so as to focus on a much more important question: If you are an amputee, have the TSA procedures changed of late and what have your experiences been with that agency? This is an honest question and answers are needed. Why? Go read this ...
That was from over a year ago. TSA has reached out to the Legion among other groups, and asked to look at any problems that veterans with Prosthesis and other problems are having. I can get you more info on it, but I don't have it on me.
Don't get me wrong, TSA annoys the ever loving shit out of me, but they appear (at the national level anyway) to be reaching out to make it as least intensive as possible.
