I'm not even a Community Manager anymore ;) This email actually doesn't scare me very much, else I'd have never posted it publicly. It was an obvious piece of spam and had nothing personal. I've received far freakier things than this. Once upon a time, I had a stalker that would call my (unlisted) cell phone every morning when I'd walk into work and leave for the evening. They could watch me come in and out of the office because of the streaming office cam. There were even more extreme things my old stalker did and I certainly had the SFPD involved as well as making reports to the FBI (which did nothing honestly, but I wanted to dot my i's and cross my t's). I'm not worried about reporting it, the headers scream "spam mail." But if you hear about a sudden gun death of a SF woman in tech, I must've been wrong ;)
Toggle Commented May 27, 2012 on Greatest Work Email Ever at Tia Marie
I've received a great deal of crazy emails in my startup career, some scams and some serious. When I was in my Community Director job, I thought those were the craziest mails I'd ever get. I received death threats, barely intelligible emails, flat out stupid things, crazy conspiracies, and everything else in between. One time, I was emailed an online petition started by a Turkish gentleman who was trying to gather multiple signatures from across the entire country of Turkey to have me extradited and executed for my crimes against humanity (and by crimes I mean IP bans for individuals who grossly violated the Terms of Service of the site I worked for). Today, I am proud to announce, I have received the greatest email of my career thus far. Below, is an email that I received at work, left without commentary. It requires none. Enjoy! Continue reading

Long drawn out ones absolutely are. That's why I say one to two sentences tops, that is more of the answer to the question: "So what does your company do?" I've been asked that question at tech events/conferences/social functions more times than I could care to count and I've asked the question (with sincerity) just as many times.
