I remember as a child one of the most exciting parts of our annual trips to Florida was the prospect of catching a chameleon to take back with me to Kentucky. Sometimes I could catch one, sometimes not.
the wonder of chameleons
This afternoon Truett and I took Madeline and Oliver to swim lessons. We had to park behind the swimming complex because Sesame Street Live was to be held tonight and the closer parking lot was closed. On the long walk back to the car after swimming lessons Maddie spied a tiny, baby chame...
I am absolutely impressed at your stamina and heat tolerance! A 105 heat index would have been the end of me.
football season
Football season officially started for Truett and me today. Actually, the first Florida Gator football game was last week when we were in Kentucky, so today was our first of this year and we followed our usual football game routine. As we drove into our parking spot I saw familiar fans milli...
Are you kidding me?? Ice cream and gummi bears are great comfort and quite a distraction, but no substitute for "Mama"!
filling a void
Maddie and Oliver have been without their mama for three nights because Merry Jennifer has been in Seattle. We all know that ice cream fills a void like only a mother could, so Truett and I took the grandchildren to TCBY yesterday afternoon and gave Sam a break. These photographs are main...
Stifling, oppressive, suffocating...no wonder pink dogwoods don't bloom in "her" Savannah. The bulletin board sounds beautiful.
pink dogwood dilemma
I don't look at the beautiful dogwood trees without remembering an incident I had when I taught in Savannah, Georgia. When I went to University of Tennessee, each spring the dogwoods bloomed. White ones and pink ones. Well, when I was teaching in Savannah, under my first woman principal,...
I love crepe myrtle trunks. Beautiful
tree trunk
Now isn't that the prettiest tree trunk you've ever seen?
That Shepherd looks like he could just shimmmy right through those bars.
low, gutteral growl
There are many kinds of drivers. There are those who keep their eyes peeled on the road in front of them at all times. Yet, there are other drivers who glance at the scenery as they drive. Especially, drivers who are always on the lookout for a photograph or a story to post on their blog ...
I love this dog.
happy thanksgiving!
princess freckles says"happy thanksgiving everybody!
This restaurant had such a unique atmosphere. It definitely felt more authentic than the mexican restaurants in Etown. Maybe that is the difference in the buildings they inhabit. The restaurants in Etown are all in old, out of business steakhouse buildings.
la rosita
do places make you happy? la rosita mexican restaurant in new albany, indiana is just such a place that took me to a different mental state. as i sat with my daughter, waiting for the rest of our party, i envisioned walking down a dusty road in some tiny village in mexico, shooing burros to t...
IN the pond??
Red Sun
if you asked me, "do you love your dog", i would honestly tell you than our personalities are conflicting right now. princess is no lady and doesn't pretend to be one. with no one home she is having a blast, tearing up the garbage , sitting in my fish pond. oh, princess, oh princess, what shal...
If so, that makes the rest of us in the service industry prostitutes. Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, Customer Service Reps. And for the record, You Have SKILLS! (to be shouted)
contemplating
If any of you from Face Book think this is the amusing post. . .well, you are dead wrong. Just scroll on down until you reach yesterday's posting. This post is DEAD SERIOUS and don't let anyone tell you it isn't. So there! Now that I've been teaching for weeks in my very last year(47, to be ...
I second all you said. I hated W more than I would be comfortable saying in mixed company. However, I would never have kept my child home or threatened a school in response to a school address by him as President.
shame on us
Shame on us for keeping our children home from school so they would not have to watch our President speak to all of the school children across America. Shame on us for not accepting our President who obviously won the Presidential election. There have been a couple of Presidents I disagreed wit...
Probably hung over and headed back to bed.
grumpy parent
Okay. Today, only one full week of school under our belts, I had the first grumpy parent on car-rider duty. Picture this. It's 7:35 in the morning and my two partners and I have been opening car/truck/van doors for approximately twenty minutes. One right after the other. Open. Good morning....
I think that is a great picture of Truett! Such a mischievious twinkle in his eye.
good-bye summer
I have successfully completed three whole days at work; and I'll tell you now, 7.75 hours a day is a long time to be away from things I had grown accustomed to during the summer. It seems that the summer rides around our little town and the surrounding counties are out of the question now. ...
My thoughts and prayers are with Boyce.
magic to misfortune
Truett and I have just returned from the George Family reunion in Dillard, Georgia. I will post over the next several days about the magical fun activities of our four day trip . . . and the misfortunes. Thirty-eight George family members were scattered all along the hills in chalets of t...
