And foolinshly, and mainly because Telstra were so incredibly rude to me when I went to buy a new mobile phone in October 2018, I switched my mobile to Optus... but my phone could not send MMS for some reason... and so began my 6 month saga of trying to communicate with Optus and their "tech support" as they constantly had me doing the same tests over and over again as if I was in a bizarre episode of 'The IT Crowd'.
In the end I contacted the Telecommunications Ombudsman and they called Optus, Optus called me and said they would fix my MMS issue immediately. The next day it was fixed.. for about two weeks. Then an Optus Tech contacted me (apparently THIS was the immediate fix promised by the Optus rep). He wanted me to do all the same tests at my end I had done dozens of times over the past 6 months. I explained my MMS had been working without me doing anything so it was clearly an issue at their end.
The Optus rep called me again. Told me that if I refused to co-operate with their testing then there was nothing they could do to help me. I explained that my MMS had worked for two weeks after last we spoke and she said it was nothing to do with Optus... just a weird coincidence... so she would release me from my contract and refund my handset fees as long as I returned the phone in good condition.
A week later I got a post paid bag to return the phone to Optus in... but no paperwork outlining the agreed terms from release from the contract or anything. They just expect me to post the phone back to them...
I contacted Optus via their FB page (nothing else works) and was told
After two weeks of trying to contact Optus unsuccesfully I wrote to the TIO again explaining my situation was still unresolved. They wrote back this morning saying that, due to an extremely high number of complaints, they could not even assign me a case officer for at least seven weeks!
And so it goes on....
How are Optus even still in business?
I haven't written on this blog for sometime now - most of my ongoing exploits as a magician can be found in the NEWS section at http://www.timellismagic.com/ However, this blog still has quite an archive of stories - especially complaints - and a LOT of them about OPTUS. So why do I stay with...

Optus just emailed me. (August 10)
They are giving me what I asked for as compensation (2 months free rental) but have NO INTEREST in addressing the issues that caused the problem (me not be able to communicate with them). To add salt to the wound, the email they sent comes from [email protected]

People have been reporting Midcity TV Repairs to Consumer Affairs for over ten years now and Consumer Affairs (it would appear) does nothing. I guess their message may be "Rip off your customers if you want, we won't interfere."
I'm afraid we are at a loss.
All we can do is spread the word about this company and encourage customers to go elsewhere.
I went to Mid City TV Repairs and met The Plasma Professor
So today I decided to stop in and visit Mid City TV repairs (aka The Plasma Professor). After my phone conversation with them yesterday. They had told me they were just waiting on the part to arrive from "the company" to finish the repair, but I realised I didn't have any paperwork... and I have...

So what DOES it take to win a GOT TALENT show? In Britain, after magician Jamie Raven came second to a performing dog last year, another magician has just taken out the top prize. Last week 25 year old amateur... Continue reading

When you have designers with stunning portfolios like this https://www.fiverr.com/design_line36/design-an-eye-catching-logo-with-free-revisions?context=adv.cat_3.subcat_49&context_type=rating&pos=3&funnel=b3d3df9c-749e-43da-872d-008ff6f56e54 offering to design THAT type of logo for $5... and you end up with the rubbish we were sold.. of course you would be disappointed! They gave quality examples and delivered rubbish, regardless of the price they charge.
Is Fiverr even worth five bucks?
More out of curiosity than anything, I decided to give the website FIVERR.COM a try. I thought it might be fun to see what other graphic designers could come up with as a new logo for The Melbourne Magic Festival. Our current logo, designed by Carl Knox, is this: and we like it... so I scoured...

I recommend that you contact Consumer Affairs, draw their attention to this blog and point out they have been doing business in this way of at least the last 6 years. They must be shut down.
