All three of the Sabres´ free agency defensman on the current roster are restricted; Andrej Sekera, Mike Weber, and Marc-Andre Gragnani. Sekera is probably the strongest candidate of the three, but with only about $7 million to play with under the new salary cap of $64 million we may anticipate more trades than signings for Buffalo. The clock won´t strike until next year for Florida´s blueline, as only Alexander Sulzer and Joe Callahan stand unrestricted. Neither are offensive dynamos, with one assist each in the 2010-2011 season and , and -3 and -1 plus/minus respectively; with other prospects on the market, their future in the South is questionable. In its recent review, headshots dominated the NCAA Hockey Rules Committee discussion as they had with the NHL Competition Committee about a week before. Both are steadily moving away from the nervous tolerance of headshots to complete rejection. Continue reading
