One of the things which I always found so amusing is how the disparities in their wardrobe were one of the constants which kept them so interesting to me! Benny is dressed like a used car salesman, Bjorn like a refugee from a casting call for "Cats" Frida's look was totally her own, and I always will think of her as hot!!! Agnetha was always the one to be more conservative when the girls "did-their-own-thing" instead of trying to be uniform. (But, the thing was she was totally hot down under!!!)

I remember reading some very unflattering and disparaging remarks which had been written by someone whom I was having a friendly rapport with back when I first came onto this blog 4 years ago, I was as I recall speaking about the fact that in certain parts of Sweden not standing on ceremony aren't an unusual thing when it comes to attending a funeral (lack of mourning clothing) or dressing in attire that might be presumed to be less than the occasion would otherwise call for. He (Joe) laid into her case pretty heavily, and at the time I wouldn't fight him, or anyone else here for having their say. IT WAS more important to understand what his reason for having such a fixation upon being on Agentha's case so much for me, because I was looking to the future (5 years distant) when I'd be starting my Doctoral Dissertation in Clinical Psychology. I wasn't going to impede this person from expressing themselves about what they felt was an apparent breach of protocol for mourning and I said that apparently there was a difference in Swedish Societal Mores anent mourning and Anglo-Saxon Cultural Cleavages (including grieving for departed friends) I won't resort to name-calling or "mud-slinging" but will wear someone down over the long-haul as I'm ever the Social Scientist and lay philosopher.

Since everyone has spoken to the obvious, I'll mention that I've always thought that Bjorn for years had always been clean-shaven and then "BOOM" out of the blue the last couple of years ABBA was an act, he decided to sport the beard and it was interesting how well he brought it off. I think that it was something that Lena had him doing, and would say that I'd do it just the same way. IF a man is going to have a beard, then by all means HAVE A BEARD, not this "mouth-fuzz" that men here and in Europe have. I'd have either a mustache or a beard, not some half-assed affect which was neither. If I wasn't going to do the best with one or the other I'd not even bother. I.E. the men in the above pic w/the boy and Agnetha & Frida are both sporting what to me are really nice examples of what I mean by a decent mustache. (BTW this was the part of their career where I thought that both Frida and Agentha were their most beautiful and I wasn't a fan of either the purple hair of Frida, or the way that Agnetha appeared to be "dumbing down" her looks, and both wore such matronly appearing clothing, with the exception of the tastefully revealing skirt Agnetha wore here!)

It's funny how the ordinary things are what we often overlook when we are always thinking about the music and the story of the people behind the music is always a more interesting thing.

I'm actually quite glad to hear that, because she's actually my fave of the two of them as far as overall appeal as a woman is concerned. But I digress, the fact is with me it's always about the music first and prior to '08 I never thought in any other context but have been getting up to speed the past 5 years knowing them as human beings.

Cool idea, Mike! A free autograph! I've been jamming constantly here on my new Thin Lizzy live album! It's funny how you never realize how much you missed old tunes, like I did back in '08 when I bought all the ABBA tunes I hand't heard in decades! I had to dial it back because I won't let myself get burnt out!

The thing that I like about them, and her was that they were just ordinary folks when not out performing on tour or recording their music. I believe it's a telling thing about someone when they look after the small details themselves. Btw I just bought a couple of albums in the past couple of months (I've still several things I want to add to my ABBA collection) this was what I thought was well worth a honorable mention, I bought off of iTunes Matchbox Twenty's latest album North, and played it continuously for 2 months straight until lately what I've been listening to is my latest Thin Lizzy "Live and Dangerous" (1978) a very good buy. Pop Rock and Hard Rock my style!

In many of these early photo shoots, Frida was the glam one, and it appears that Agnetha was downplaying her sex appeal! Not favoring one over another but taking into account Agnetha's own words about "Frida was always at ease with her body, speaking contextually about dancing but it also could be said about her wardrobe was maybe a tad risque but that's what helped put them on the map! Talent alone should have done that, but they were all experimenting with their wardrobes too!

She's always been the antithesis (opposite) of someone whom shall remain nameless who's no longer amongst the living whom I'll not speak of again except here in this offhand joke which was once made to illustrate the ludicrous nature of how she went over the top with her makeup. (we substitute a icon of circus comedy for her "What does a clown have in common with the Swiss Alps? 5 feet of powder and unlimited foundation!" LOL!!! Frida always was a natural beauty and I never got what people meant about her taking a backseat to Agnetha?

Of the 4 I believe Mike that Benny was a bit taller than Bjorn @ 5' 9" 3/4, Bjorn was 5'9" and both Frida and Agnetha were 5'7" and that happens alot frequently from wearing different types of shoes.

Hej Mike and a belated Tack for din typ orden pa min födelsedagen! I was just explaining today was actually when our family (my sisters and myself, our parents are deceased) celebrates my birthday, and it's now a new tradition for now we meet on Veteran's Day, next year will be better because I'll phone ahead and make a reservation! We went and had a good time instead of at Texas Roadhouse, we went to 5 Guys Hamburgers (I had a hotdog and a grilled cheese, go figure!) When you are the middle in a family dominated by women you don't kick up a fuss when it's a consensus amongst us and always has been. My true happiness comes from seeing my people well and doing better each time I see them.

Hej Monica, Tack for din typ orden pa min födelsedagen! I was today (Nov 12) at a part of the Capitol City (my hometown) Columbia, South Carolina and it was a madhouse where we'd originally intended to meet. My older sister was there and she and my younger sister gave me a fit for not having placed a reservation (actually it was light teasing) I was listening to my iPod and my older sister was saying about how rude i was, and I explained that's an outcome of men whom are frequently alone. We went up the road to another place instead of Texas Roadhouse to 5 Guys Hamburgers, (I had a hotdog and grilled cheese) we spent a good time and I listened and spoke infrequently, when you get those two together (I'm the middle) I'm outnumbered!

And a belated Tack for din typ orden pa min födelsedagen! I today (Nov 12) met with my sisters to have my birthday lunch which we've agreed to do on Veterans Day for the sake of convenience but the thing was I neglected to call ahead for a reservation, (next year will be different!) I enjoyed it because we catch up on what's new with each of us. Today was a relaxed time, but after this I've much work to do with my grad-school, (no rest for the weary!) But somebody's got to do it! Also this pic is cool about how different they looked when they were in the early part of their fun. Especially Frida and Agnetha!

I signed up and that's about as far as I'm able to go at this present time, I'm not saying that I'll help every time they "pass the hat" but I'll do what I can. I've signed up for "a bazillion" sites and so what's one more? I used FaceBook and that's not going to allow anyone to get to anyone else (they asked for permission which I unfortunately had to deny because of some security issues lately) Vad ar Flattr? Jag vet inte?!
Essentially I believe that accusations of embezzlement of profits and or other peculations with royalties were what caused the "final straw" between them. Only God knows all of the truth, the rest is moot speculation on anyone else's part. If it were I it would have gone no differently because such a thing as betrayal isn't easily forgotten, and contrary to what moral b.s. others would tell you once trust is gone out of a relationship it's pretty much toast. (The relationship)

Tack for din typ orden pa min födelsedagen! I appreciate all of that from Levi, he's a "hail fellow well met" (meaning from modern usage of the archaic greeting in Olde English-the one fellow you can count on to be consistently of good cheer and friendly) I appreciate all overtures of solicitude. With my encounters here I frequently find that there of one of two varieties, the ones whom genuinely wish for a substantive exchange of cognitive engagement and others whom want to argue because they want to "put you in your place" because you refuse to be a different type of person online as it is in my case I'm the same all the time, I don't go to be belligerent or difficult but I've found it ill serves me to be someone else for the sake of peace. I never expect to be popular, but that those that don't like my demeanor know that I won't suffer fools gladly as was my father's in his time's wont to do. -Thomas

I agree it's cool to think about, but now what I like think about is how the new music is going to sound (and I MEAN NEW not covering oldies) when I consider the possibility of another new album coming out by her. I've enjoyed the past as much as anyone. I think she was one of the prettiest women singers ever. But I live in the here and now. I still enjoy all of the things which are discussed here though.

Hello Andrew, How well this resonates with that conversation which we had previously about philosophy being a actual experience of the life of the average human being and not of the ethereal conceptual notions of philosophers whom are positing their opining based upon more conjecture and not from having had any empirical life engagement in order to come to this level of cognition. The truth is learned through the travails which we are forced to endure and overcome to learn our hardest life lessons. But we know better by then that our knowledge isn't just our opinion but has relevance to everyone whom has trod the same paths as we, the humble and experienced (life philosophers from having lived it)

One thing I can say about them that they always looked good anyway that they chose to appear. I often thought it was funny how I always looked upon the group ABBA as a musical experience and never actually thought much of how attractive either of the women were until way after the fact. I said that about many men wanting to appear as if they were a lot of hormonal adolescents about Agnetha when in point of fact what they were drooling over was over 30+ years ago! I look upon it with the phlegmatic detachment that I do when I read about Frida being given her space when she's gone around in Switzerland. I guess that comes from always having been an self actualization type A sort of a guy. Always being engaged with life and people whom you care about, so much of the fandom thing is so "yesterday" so 20th century to me now.

Micke, I couldn't agree more, because I think that some things are more valuable when their allowed to be circulated and given to a wider audience. I've hungered for new ABBA experiences since I wasn't as blessed to be born in the same country as they were and you are amongst the most blessed of men to have seen them when they were an performing act. That was something which I can only say that was a once in a lifetime occurrence and won't ever see the like again and even if we did, would it live up to our expectations? I look at things today more pragmatically than I used to. I've seen many of my heroes, heroines and won't regret what I've not been fortunate enough to have lived and experienced. Anytime I can help someone experience a glimmer of what I've seen it's always worth it. Once I sold a ticket to a man to catch KISS in 2000 when it was supposed to be the last time when they'd be playing as the original lineup. I can honestly say I've done that. Seen many of my original heroes from my adolescence and it was as good as I'd imagined it would be.
I have had pictures of Frida which are marked erroneously as Agnetha Faltskog, I often wonder how they make that mistake?
