It might, but chances are the lace will tear, it all depends on how much the jeans stretch. If you do want to give it a go you will need a piece of lace that has some give in it and isn't too delicate, and if you can't find one, you'll need to leave the lace a little baggy when you stitch it in place, because as the jeans stretch they'll pull on the lace tearing it.
