The other night, I met up with one of my favourite people and he made a really funny observation. We were discussing an upcoming radio show that was coming up and the line up. When we realized something hilarious, "What is it with the same name sounding bands that aren't... Continue reading

Last night, I saw my favourite American band of all time, Wilco, at the Warfield in San Francisco. (Radiohead is my favourite British band in case you're wondering.) They brought "The Whole Love" and so much more rock to their performance. It was so nice to see a wide variety... Continue reading

I'm lucky that I live in the bay area. There are so many awesome music festivals including The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Noise Pop, The Treasure Island Music Festival and Stern Grove. Stern Grove and Hardly Strictly are both free to the public. How cool is that? A few weeks... Continue reading

I am a music geek and damn proud of it. Sometimes when I travel, I'll seek out musical landmarks. An ex-boyfriend let me take him to Sky Blue Sky, a restaurant in Toronto named after Wilco's album. The sandwiches were actually really tasty. They were all named after Wilco songs... Continue reading

A few weeks ago, I was wandering around Hayes Valley after a friend's birthday party when I noticed a mural that said, "Lover's Spit." I smiled when I saw this because musical references always make me happy no matter where they pop up. Unfortunately, it was dark by the time... Continue reading

Summer means my birthday, heat, too much popsicle/ice cream consumption and of course, music festivals. Over the weekend, Outside Lands, a huge music festival in SF occurred. I didn't get tickets because I've never been a huge festival person. In fact, the last time I went to a music festival... Continue reading

I'm not sure if y'all have seen the page on FB, but I finally finished the 30 Songs in 30 Days Challenge. I'm going to go ahead and post them all here because it makes it easier than to scroll through my entire page. Every now and then, I'll throw... Continue reading

I met up with an adventurous friend over the weekend and he took me to his favourite spot in San Francisco. If you asked me to find it on my own, I wouldn't be able to tell you. I know it's up the hill past the Castro...maybe on 14th and... Continue reading

Wow. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that my following has grown since the last time I've logged in. You're inspiring me to keep writing, keep wandering/traveling and to to keep posting. I have been working on my Facebook page dedicated to this site. I'm still working out the kinks including... Continue reading

I'm taking a break from the travel aspect of the blog to bring you a review of a new up and coming indie hip hop band. Ocean Black Self Titled Ocean Man Music, 2011 Charlottesville, Virginia's Ocean Black combine electronic and hip hop elements in a swirly mesmerizing sound. They're... Continue reading

I got inspired by the article in NPR, so I decided now's a good time to list the albums that got me through my teens. I haven't done too much exploration lately, so this is a good article to base my newest blog post. Pearl Jam - Basically any... Continue reading

Apparently, there's another person on Twitter with a blog entitled Travel In Sound. The only reason I know this is because I was going to make a Twitter page to advertise my blog and then hers came up. What's even funnier is that her Tumblr Page is kinda similar to... Continue reading

The Civic Center/Tenderloin area of San Francisco is hard to describe. It's on the cusp of being nice, yet seedy depending on where you end up. There are professionals wandering around near City Hall and the Museums. A few blocks later, you're being accosted by undesireables, drug addicts, homeless people... Continue reading

When you're on a road trip, music plays an important role and shapes the scenery. Whether you're a few towns over or you're driving to a whole different state, the songs you play during the trip can make it stand out from others. Think of the scene in Elizabethtown where... Continue reading

Sometimes a place will remind you of a band or a song by this particular band will do the same thing. There are so many bands that I love. When I visit places, sometimes I'll think of a song that goes with that place. For example, Wilco's "Via Chicago" ran... Continue reading

SF's Union Square is probably the most touristy areas of the city. There's a lot of great shopping here and you can always find interesting people walking around the area. I wandered through a couple of stores where various songs are playing. Sometimes it really sets the mood at a... Continue reading

Record stores are a safe haven for me. You know the line in Almost Famous where Penny Lane (Kate Hudson)'s character says, "Go the record store and visit your friends"? That's exactly how I feel when I stop in a record store. Music has always been the one thing I... Continue reading

I like to walk a lot with my headphones on. Sometimes I'll just wander and get lost in the music. I walked around Lake Merritt with a good friend of mine. I didn't have a chance to put on my headphones but if I were to create a soundtrack it... Continue reading

Walking around during the summer it gets pretty warm in suburban towns. In fact, some days you can't even walk around without breaking a sweat. Today is no exception. The birds chirping mixed with the sweet sounds of Voxtrot's "Rise Up in the Dirt" pops up on my iPod. "We... Continue reading

I ride public transportation when I can. It's so convenient and less stressful than driving. I feel pretty blessed to have so many different, relatively efficient modes of transportation to get to various destinations in the Bay Area. One option I ride frequently is BART which stands for Bay Area... Continue reading
