Good Gracious! What a good looking bunch of folks! Love the post.
Here's To 55 Years
On September 4, 1955 newlyweds Robert and Norma Ohlde started what is now Ohlde’s Dairy, Inc. It all began with three Holsteins that Bob had for a FFA project. The milk was sold to the local Washington County Coop Creamery. In 1959 their milk was upgrade to Gra...
very interesting info. Keep it coming!
Hormones in Cows
That’s right; cows have hormones, just like every living thing and all the food we eat. Today I’d like to focus on one special little hormone, bST. It stands for Bovine Somatotropin, and it is a naturally occurring protein hormone in cows. It’s what makes the baby cattle grow and the big mama’s ...

How fun! Maddie is nearly Sam's age, so some of these projects might be fun for us to do. Except we are surrounded by buildings and concrete... We'll have to go hang our birdhouse in a public tree! Can't wait for more!
I totally know what you mean about feeling in a rut. Hope this project helps!
Day One - let the adventure begin
A few weeks ago I was in a pretty major rut; as a mom, a wife and a human being I was becoming miserable. Talking to my sister about it she came up with the idea of creating my own "job" since right now the cost of daycare and the age of my girls limits the amount I can work outside the home. ...

I still just love your love light sessions! The images are great! Cute family!
because nine hours is a long drive.
Last night I did two shoots in one with a family that traveled all the way from Atlanta to have me photograph their family! Going in I had no idea they had traveled JUST for ME and when I found that out the rain and dark freaked me out more than it already was b/c I mean, COME ON, the PRESSURE! ...
that is awesome! what a cutie!
meet maggie.
Margaret Louise Teeter. June 22, 2009. 1:59pm 8 pounds 15 ounces. 22.5 inches. Did you catch that? NINE POUNDS 8lbs 15.4ounces! And mom delivered NATURALLY. Amazing. It was seriously amazing. And FAST! We all arrived at the hospital a little after noon and Maggie came FLYING out just...
that is so exciting! Can't wait for an update... good luck!
it's a great day to have a baby!
THIS momma just might be in labor... so right now I'm waiting for the sitter to get here so I can head to the hospital... because she was 40 weeks on Friday... and has a doctor's appointment this morning... so since she's been contracting fairly regularly for the last 12 hours... we ...
omg, that dress is still the best thing ever.
pretend like you don't see me.
My kids are still at the age, all of them, that if they are "hiding" and can't see me then they assume I can't see them. And since I can't SEE you I'm going to assume you can't see me posting tonight, at 11pm, when I am supposed to be on a hiatus! I just HAD to give my sweet friend Christine a s...
Happy Birthday Grayman! What a cute little man.
in one hour I will have an official one year old.
I have no idea where to begin Gray's birthday post so I just went back and reread a lot of posts from his first weeks. (HERE and HERE and HERE) And I'm sitting here completely emotional and wanting another baby and wishing time would slow down. (As an aside, thank GOD for this blog. Most of what...
Um, What is: Grayson's first birthday, Alex.
sneak peek: St. Louis Family Photographer
(Have you noticed photographers putting that at the top of their blog posts lately? I'm guessing it's so they are more "Googleable" or something so I thought I would try it. And I say this NOW so that I'm not accused of copying off the MILLION others that do it later! HA!) Anyway, I had two AWES...
I didn't unplug, but I did leave my phone charger in St Louis last weekend, and have not had a phone for like a week now. Does that count? It should count for something! I feel like Im isolated on a dessert island. I'm praying that it's in the mail today!
the good the bad and the ugly of being UNPLUGGED.
This was my idea. My stinking idea. What in the world was I thinking? So if you are new around here, I had a freak out a while back (HERE) and realized just how plugged IN our family is. Between texting and emailing and tv watching and DVRing and blogging and tweeting and UGH! It never stops. ...
They turned out so great! I am in love with the love light thing. (it does help that you had an awesome couple to work with! Hi Susan and Bill!) Man I love the last one, I knew when you took it that it would probably be my favorite. And the one of Susan's hands is so emotional. You did a great job!
break the rules! embrace the grain! (love post comin attcha!)
Love Light sessions just may be my favorite sessions. There is something about exploring the city for light, stretching the limits of your camera and forcing yourself to get super creative that just turns me on. And because I've had some questions lately about my Love Light sessions and because...
LMAO along with Bill. This is freaking hilarious! Jodie, what happened to you...you used to be so unconfontational! I didn't know you had an "ugly" side. I am so proud of you! Way to GO! haha, I just had to say it.
GO.
I just got an email from Elizabeth and HAD to take an editing break to share! It had me laughing out loud! Jodie, Have you seen this ad campaign? http://go.visa.com/?ep=v_sym_/go And I scanned two of the ads for you and attached them. Looks like ANONYMOUS needs to go tell Visa to st...
wait, maybe it's curves, hue/sat and unsharp mask.... how many guesses do we get?
you know me.
And you know I love a good before and after! So I thought I would share what I'm working on right now. This session has the most amazing BEFORE and AFTER photos ever. QUESTION to PRO-PHOTOGRAPHERS: Is it just an issue that I have or do your pre-processed photos look a bit muddy? I almost always ...
great photo! love the grunge. you can use some presets in your camera to boost your color/contrast sooc. I have mine set on "vivid" or "landscape" because it offers slightly better color than normal. In a nikon you can find it under menu-camera settings-optimize image-and then choose the setting. I know canon has a similar setting. don't mistake it for the white balance/etc. it is a separate thing.
i will venture a guess at levels, curves and hue/saturation :)
you know me.

B&W is so very classic in a way color can never touch. (but i love both too of course!)
black and white can tell such a story.
I love color. I really do. When clients show up in crazy cool+colorful outfits and we head to a grungy urban location with grafitti and peeling paint and awesome texture I get beyond excited. BEYOND excited. And after those sessions I rush home not able to wait to see what I captured. I also lo...
that is a fantastic dress!
sweet trevi. one year old.
In the midst of a hard day yesterday I got to meet sweet little Trevi! Today hasn't gone as planned and so in a rush I will leave you (for once) with little words and just a few photos for their sneak peek! Hopefully tomorrow I will be back to bombard you once again with my rambling posts and mi...
that was sweet, Jod. it wont be hard forever. you do such a great job.
it's not about how fast i get there.
So of all people, Miley Cyrus gave me my epiphany yesterday. So random. But have you heard her new song? The Climb? I download music a lot b/c the kids and I sing all day so if there is new music that I think I might like I go ahead and get it. This was one of those songs. Did you li...
I watched Oprah yesterday, and thought of you. You should have been a guest on her show. Actually, I think I have retained a fair amount of my sanity because you have always been so honest with me about your experiences. You're the best mom-friend a new mom could ever have!
air it out.
I got home from taking all three kids, by myself, to the mall in search of an orange tie for Chris. I HATE the mall when I have kids with me so this was a feat in and of itself that I even agreed to go get the stinking tie, but I did and two hours later we arrived back home with tie in hand. As ...
Oh Jod, You are awesome, you shouldn't feel stupid, breathing problems are a really big deal. I don't care if it is croup that caused it--It could have just as easily been an allergic reaction to something, or an asthma attack. You definitely did the right thing.
(at least that's what I think--in all of my sage like experience--haha)
my little seal.
We had some excitement tonight. This little man woke up out of a sound sleep struggling to breath. Chris came rushing into the family room (where I was working) with him and said that something was wrong. He was gasping for air, coughing and crying. Having just been through RSV I listened f...
I HEART your projects, friend. You are so incredibly motivated/talented/imaginitive/inspiring. I have 3 albums to put together, and an entire apartment to pack, but I am going to shred crayons and iron parchment together so I have hearts to dangle in the little girl's new room. Thanks Jod, for the distraction! LOVE it!
day three.
Sorry this is a bit late in posting, this cold has knocked me flat. Although not flat enough that I didn't run three errands in the 6+ inches of snow on the ground this morning! I hit Walgreens after Elizabeth's sweet comment and link that told me what I could take to curb this nose running, cou...
Oh My, Kevin is in trouble. If maddie makes that face, he will help her spread shampoo everywhere! He stands no chance.
punishment.
I mentioned that Parker's new hobby is to spread shampoo from here to kingdom come. It's a good hobby and makes the upstairs smell nice and mango fresh. Could be worse I guess, she could spread poop everywhere. Anyway. At one point last weekend we'd had it. One point, a million points, whatever...
That makes me laugh. You have such funny kids. Maddie is going to be the same way. We were sitting together on the couch a little while ago when Laura and George met the Obamas at the door for coffee, and I was explaining why this was such a big deal (yes explaining to a 5 month old) and I realized she was SNORING. Nice. She gets that from her dad. (both the snoring and the dis-interest.)
morning quotes.
As I was checking email this morning: Bailey: "stop working and feeeeeeeeeed me mommy!" -------------------------------- While eating the delicious breakfast I whipped up (frozen waffles and strawberries+blue berries) I turned the news on to start watching some of the Inauguration Day coverage a...
