Interesting. Also explains religiosity, I suppose. By the way, clicking on the comment feed link results in an error - at least in my Chrome browser.

It's nice that you appreciate me - but I detest having to sign in every time I comment.

Having read the book, it is indeed a strange conclusion; however, you were deliberately provocative in the title. I guess some people just can't get past titles - it's the celeb, Twitter culture of quick soundbites and shallowness that doesn't get any deeper than the top layer of the epidermis.

No.1 son has traded in his top-of-the-range Sony PS3 for an X-Box at Game. Not sure whether one is better than t'other - it's just that he has more friends on X-Box than PS3.

I'm reminded of Churchill's comment: "Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others." Seems peer review might be the same.

PS: while "The Mythology of Evolution" will attract both sides ends of the spectrum, "The Truths of Evolution" would not, thus it was an inspired choice of title to gain the widest readership.

Where there is certainty one will find tyranny; where there is doubt one will find accommodation and compromise. The worst enemy is certainty in the presence of doubt.

My copy arrived yesterday and started reading it in bed - already on page 35. Excellent so far! Can't wait to read the rest.

Decided to buy it through Amazon instead - it's faster.... Was the title deliberately provocative?

Cynicism is the oxygen of the aged. As I grow older, I find it increasingly hard to avoid cynicism. But perhaps that's just me being cynical.

True. How about the Murdoch Ethics? By the way, did you get a copy of Haidt's new offering? I found it quite interesting - there's quite a dialogue going on on some of the Amazon reviews - questions as to whether Haidt is biased.

Strangely enough, I have just ordered The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion from Amazon, which addresses this problem.

Rather than concentric circles, perhaps a 3D landscape with the peak being oneself. As you descend from the peak you come across other creatures at differing levels and distances. Complicate it further with the morals of close family members and you'd end up with a 3D Venn diagram.
