This is a stunning transformation and I can only imagine how you are enjoying not having to "camp" in your treasure house.
vintage inspired farmhouse bathroom...
It's been a LONG time coming... let's start at the beginning... In the upstairs of the farmhouse, there was a tiny little bathroom. Tub, sink, toilet...circa 1950. The bathroom opened into the 2 adjoining bedrooms, jack-and-Jill style. You HAD to walk through a bedroom to get to it. I ...
Thank you so much for sharing the link to the hair art museum. I have a wreath I scored at the local thrift and it is so fun to learn more!
Buys and Makes
First Make: Elf shoes. I got the pattern and instructions from Dawn at The Feathered Nest. Dawn's tutorials are so easy to follow with pictures and full size patterns. I "make up" a lot of my craft projects, but sometimes it's nice to have someone else work out the kinks for you, so you can...
EEEEEEE!!! Be very careful where you store those old celluloid buttons that haven't yet crumbled, but are on the verge. "Sick" buttons will contaminate the ones they are stored with like a rotten apple. So sad!
Don't Do This With Your Buttons
An antique dealer once told me that since most dealers don't go to school to learn the "trade", we get our education from our mistakes. Usually those are mistakes in what we buy. Even though I've been doing this for 15 years, I still make mistakes. I guess that means I'm still learning. At ...
I love following the progress. A HUGE undertaking but the results are so worth the work. Keep the photos coming!
the parlor...
When we first started the farm remodel, I knew it would be a lengthy process. I also knew that in order to endure a house that was always in a state of chaos, I wanted to have ONE room that was an "after"...one room that I could show visitors and say "someday it will all be nice like this". ...
Oh.My.Gosh. This is a true dream come true. Please keep the pictures coming!
the farm...
It was love at first sight. From the moment I saw this farm, I knew it was where I was supposed to be. It had all the things I have been looking for: it is within one hour of home, near a small town with an old fashioned town square, it has a few acres of land, a lake, barns, an old farmhou...
This is incredible and I can't wait to see more pictures. What part of the country do you live in??
and while he was away...
And while my son was on his adventure of a lifetime, I embarked on an adventure of my own...I purchased a farm! I saw it for the first time in April , made an offer in May, and closed on the property June 26. It has an old farmhouse, built in 1875, that I am completely restoring, as well as...
Just think how much joy you are sending out into the world!
Fond farewells
It's a bittersweet time of year. Pretty leaves, cloudy skies. Hot mulled cider, chilly weather. All those lovely Christmas ornaments I acquired over the summer, ready to go out in the world. The time of year when I wonder if it would really be so wrong to keep another box of ornaments. ...
Your creative space is beautiful - especially those jars of bling! Thank you for sharing.
Where Bloggers Create 2012
I am so happy to be able to participate in Karen Valentine's Where Bloggers Create 2012, I think this will be my third year. I built my studio just over three years ago, so there has been a few changes and many additions of supplies, etc. It's amazing what you can pack into a small space! Thi...
It is utterly astounding to me that you could make a book like that in such short order! I like that term "gorilla scrapbooking" and will try to remind myself of that when I go off over-thinking every little thing.
Hooked on books
This book is the project we made in Jeanne Oliver's class at Tiffanys. It began with a vintage paper collage, and was painted and textured, then we used inks, paints and who knows what all over the top of that! It was a never ending layering process. I really enjoyed doing the textures. Years...
Thank you for sharing all those smiling faces and fun!
Generosity
Every single bit of Birdsong was just lovely for me. But there were some extra special moments throughout. I think what really shone through was generosity, thoughtfulness, and kindness. From the sponsors to the "Peeps" who came to craft, everyone was willing to share their best. One ...
