Whenever it is someone's birthday, the song "This is the Day" runs through my head and I sing it unabashedly in that person's honour. Your birthday is a day the Lord has made so rejoice and be glad and in it! He certainly does!
I love your dreams and I pray that they all come true. How awesome would that be?!
CR :: Those Big Birthday Wishes.....
So. My birthday is one month from today. (Yes. If you are paying attention to the date it will be 10/10/10) Sadly there is nothing exciting happening that day. But a girl can always dream I suppose. So I was thinking this week about birthday things....(Thanks to Alex's birthday love posts whi...
All I have had running through my head lately are various preschool songs, particularly "Look who came to school today, school today, school today..." sung to Mary Had a Little Lamb. You're welcome. ;)
You Answer Tuesday.
One day I will chose a title for this little fun question thing and make a little graphic. ;) Today's question stems from the fact that I adore music...and I am always looking for new favorites so this is a two part question...or something like that! Have you discovered a new song/album/art...
Beautiful!
AND YAY GOD!!! That is so awesome and I am absolutely thrilled for you!!!!
CR :: Bits of Randomness and September Wallpaper!
I am so glad it is Friday. Even though I am "volunteering" at a work fundraiser today. A three day weekend will be fabulous though! Some bits of randomness... First...I got this photo in a text the other night from my brother. My darling niece, Toccoa, is so adorable! :o) Second bit.... I ...
Mine are definitely seasonal, too, with the exception of chocolate. As if chocolate could ever be out of season.
In the fall and winter my comfort food is soup, with my all time comfort meal being roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. If only I could make a roast like my dad does. I don't really have a comfort food for spring and summer, because I really just crave soup and then I don't eat it because I like to make it from scratch and it's too hot to do that. No wonder I love fall so much! I've been dreaming for the past two weeks of making soup. Is that pathetic of me or what?
Woolgathering Tuesday
Yes...I am still trying to think of a name for this Tuesday question thing. :P I have pondered the following....Woolgathering Tuesday, Musing on Tuesday, Contemplative Tuesday and several others. Still no decisive thought..... Any. Who. Last night for dinner I made some comfort food and it ...
The real reason I never started this meme is because I know I would never finish it. Although every time I read yours and Amanda's posts, I get an urge.
CR :: Oh... Yeah....I was doing that 5,000 question thing....
A few months ago (ummm the last time was February) I was trying to do the 5,000 question meme survey thing my dear Amanda started doing long ago. So I decided to give it another try! 21. Are you more of a giver or a taker? Ack. This is a hard question. I would say giver. But I am the tak...
Acceptance letters?! Exciting!!
I love my babies, furry things that are supposed to be in my house (not so much when they don't belong there!), my hubby, being able to pursue my passion, coffee (duh!). And currently the first day of school for said babies. ;)
Things I Love....
♥ long conversations with a dearest friend. ♥ skype. ♥ laughter. ♥ long chatty emails. ♥ people who just get you. ♥ a good book, a comfy chair, a sweet snugly kitty and a cozy blanket. ♥ challenging Words. ♥ acceptance letters. ♥ amazing photographs that move you. ♥ match up on the igoogle pag...
I keep getting Katy Perry's California Girls stuck in my head - I don't need to repeat the infamous line that plays over and over either. Silly radio. ;)
Random Dozen :: August 25
I decided to join in random dozen fun today....I just love the questions Lid comes up with :o) 1. What is your favorite Mexican dish? Too many. I love a fab chicken taco or chicken nachos....and the mexican rice and.........okay see. Yum. 2. When you were a kid, did you get started on you...
My biggest dreams have always involved working with children. I try to find different ways I can do that, whether through serving in ministry or working. You would think with all the writing I do that would be my biggest dream, but it's not. I love doing it and it's fun, but when I picture what I am doing in 10 years, it inevitably involves me sitting with a bunch of little ones loving on them like Jesus does. I always love that visual in the Bible of children flocking to Jesus and crawling all over Him!
Q and A Tuesday
Still trying to think of a moniker for this little fun thing on Tuesday! Here is today's question.... What is your biggest dream and what are you doing to go after it? See you in the comments!
This is so hard - I let some "friendships" (I use that term very loosely!) go last year, but I still find I hang on to the hurts that caused me to need to let them go in the first place. And then I realized the other day that I was projecting those hurts on to others that had nothing to do with the whole mess. Praying for clarity and wisdom definitely helps - even if it is just me whining at God for days until I've gotten it all out and He can finally get a word in edgewise.
Letting Go of the Baggage
For most of my life I have felt like letting go of something or someone was like giving up. I have been taught not to give up. This never seemed to be a problem to me until recently. One of the things I have the girls I work with do is imagine themselves in an airport trying to carry 20 pieces...
Mine is Flanna Kylea - I may have to get another dog so I can name her Flanna! :P
CR :: Quiz Fun!
My wonderful bloggy twin, Kara, had some fun personality things on her blog last week...and you know me...I love those things! So I took my first enneagram test. It was interesting. I only took the free test but felt like the results were quite accurate! Nines are accepting, trusting, an...
(((hug))) I understand. I can't stand Nov 11 - that's the anniversary of my Grandpa's death and it's Remembrance Day here (kind of like your Veteran's Day). It is all too much to handle on one day.
Two Months.
(rambling post ahead........) My Memaw had three rings she wore all the time. A few years ago the nursing home ask Mum to bring home her anniversary ring that my Papaw had given her for their 50th. They were afraid it would get lost. The other was a small ring with a little purple heart that...
Oooh - Tuesday Tidbits is fun!!
My province Saskatchewan is famous for being the birthplace of medicare, which is free health care for everyone in the country regardless of financial status. While it does have its cons (like the longest wait lists ever!), I really appreciate that everyone has access to the same quality of health care not matter what.
Also, the father of medicare was Tommy Douglas, who was Keifer Sutherland's grandfather. So basically Saskatchewan is responsible for 24. You're welcome. ;)
Oh, and our football fans wear watermelons on their heads.
Questionable Tuesday
It's our first Tuesday Question! I am still pondering a name....Andrea suggested What's On Your Mind and I also pondered Questionable Tuesday to go with quotable. What do you think? (that is not your question of course!) Speaking of quotable...there are a few more Word quotables available......
Haha - this is sure perfect timing for me, too! Waiting and I are not very good friends. :P
His Plans Among the Stars.
In the early hours of Friday morning I wrapped myself in a blanket and slipped outside. I sat on the hood of my car and looked up. As I sat there and looked up into the night sky I heard the beautiful night music all around. The last time I had done this it was late autumn and it was quiet. As ...
I love this - it is so full of hope!!
As of Late :: August
Each month Kristen hosts As Of Late....I love the chance to think of what I have been learning, thinking, and loving. Lately I have been pondering stars and plans. Lately creativity seems to come more often. Lately quiet has become a loyal companion on this journey. Lately the true meaning...
I am so glad you are bringing back Pouring Out! I love the whole idea behind it. And don't let it discourage you - even though you may not have had a lot of people visibly participate, you have no idea of how many people it actually challenged who just kept quiet about it. ;)
I love your heart - it is so beautiful!
A New Thing and Reinventing An Old Thing.
Yesterday I introduced you to Pilgrims and Questions.... Today it's Prayer and Pouring Out. You will notice in the side bar the prayer button. I love prayer. I think it is the greatest honor to carry others to the Throne before our God. Especially sometimes when we want to do something and we...
Love Pilgrims. I think you should keep that!
How about something like "What's on your mind?" for Tuesdays?
Some new things....
Okay...I know you are waiting anxiously for me to tell you about the new things. And to show how much I love you I am typing this with a very sore body from my CPR/first aid training on Monday. I don't think my knees will ever be the same. The baby stuff was a little intense since sweet Toccoa...
I'm with Tracy - can you just hurry up and tell us? :P You know I'm just teasing you, right? I love how you are taking the time to fully explain you new mission with this blog. But impatient me doesn't want to wait until tomorrow for more!
He's Doing a New Thing, So We are Singing a New Song.
A few weeks ago I had lunch with my friend Laina. We were talking about music...which is enivitable when the two of us are together and she got really excited and wanted me to hear a song on her phone. So the two of us sat in a booth at Applebee's each of us having one of her earbuds in our ea...
I love it - that is one of my fave pictures. And I still totally want the shoes. ;)
Welcome to the New Critty Joy Blog!
Hi Peaches! The new design is here. I have to say I love it. So much. I love that my header is going to tie into my new blogging things I am announcing this week. You will see that I have changed things significantly on the side bar. Most things are now below the header in what is called the na...
You ARE a part of my family, sweet Christy! I miss you, too. I'm starting to get the urge to write more again, so I know this bloggy break has been good - and almost over! And thank you for the award - you made my day!
Question...hmmm...I've decided to ask you a silly one, because I suck at thinking of profound things. I leave those kind of questions to the experts. ;) So tell me - if you could be on any 80's sitcom, what would it be and of course, why?
CR :: Substance and Questions....
I have two things to today.... 1. Substance. Sweet Jen from Finding Heaven gave me a blog award! She thinks I have a blog with substance. Which blesses me to no end :o) Thanks Jen! Jen has been such an encouragement to me since losing my Memaw almost two months ago. And she is funny.....
Oh, Misty, I am still there - its definitely a daily thing, choosing to live as God has called us to.
Choosing to Be Led
I had a lot of roommates in college. My very first living-from-home experience happened at the age of 18. I was anxious to move out on my own and spread my wings. A lovely woman at my church helped me to find a place to live – she just happened to know of a house for rent that six other girls ...
That video always makes me smile! "Charlie bit my finger!"
And I will join in the chocolate indulging. It's good for you. I checked. ;)
Love you!
Random Dozen :: May 19
I thought I needed some fun this weekend so I decided to join in on the Random Dozen fun! 1. What is one really fast, know-by-heart "go-to" meal to fix in a pinch? Chicken nachos. It’s easy, fast and yummy. 2. What is one item you won't leave home without. (Purse and license do not count.) ...
Indeed.
Rainy Monday Musings
To be honest I am completely exhausted. So my musings...they will be short today... I spent most of the last three days at the hospital with my sweet friend Becky, her hubby Chris, and their sweet new baby boy Noah. Friday was an interesting day and Beck ended up having a c-section (not an...
Word to the new mother - hug that baby for me!
Caffeinated Randomness :: Word to your Mother....
Okay so I may be watching Glee at the moment and they just finished singing Ice Ice Baby....and the end of the song may or may not end with the phrase above.... But really? Could Ice Ice Baby have made a better comeback than Will Schuster doing his awesome rendition? I think not. Okay, Ok...
I can only love you more, sweet Christy.
Vulnerable.
Do you ever feel as if your heart is at such a vulnerable place you worry it might shatter. It's an odd place. And not one I have been very often. But I seem to be there now. As I thought earlier about why it feels this way I began to understand just how much has gone on in my life lately. And ...
I love fried rice!!
