A much more positive response than the last blog review I read about Devil. The premise really interests me and seems like the kind of low-key setting that would let a Shyamalan story shine.

Well, I've heard good things about this novel as well, and heard a couple of interesting interviews on NPR and CBC Radio. Fingers crossed. e-mail: rabidfox[at]

It looks interesting, but then again, Open Water was supposed to be as well, and I just didn't get into that movie at all.

Oh my, I just have to throw my name in the hat for this one. Dan Simmons first appeared on my radar when watching the Harlan Ellison documentary "Dreams with Sharp Teeth," where Mr. Ellison heralded Simmons' debut novel, "Song of Kali"--I won a copy of that book just a week or two ago. As far as "Drood" is concerned, I have a soft spot for Charles Dickens' work, and the idea that Simmons has masterfully crafted a work of fiction surrounding Dickens and his relationship with Wilkie Collins is beyond intriguing. It sounds too good to resist.
