~ Happy Wednesday, y'all! I'm hosting the Color Throwdown this week and I've chosen some soft summer shades for us to play with. I've always said my favorite color is "water", so a few watery hues were in order: Aqua, Ice Blue, and Pale Green. ~ ~ I had created a few Gelli prints recently and wanted to use one of them for my background today. I used Distress inks and a brayer to coat the gelli plate, picked up the color with cardstock, then reapplied inks through the Floating Leaves stencil before picking up the ink again with the... ~ Hey, y'all! It's time for the new Color Throwdown challenge and this week we have a great combo to work with, courtesy of Amy Rysavy: Red, Pale Blue, Kraft, and Ivory. ~ ~ I actually used the weekly colors to make a beachy card! (I know you like that, Nise!!) No surprises this week! ~ ~ This was a pretty simple card to make. I stenciled on the "creatures" then ink blended the background water. After spritzing with some water, I dabbed it away, then flicked some of the colors onto the background. I die cut the panel, added... Continue reading

~ Happy Wednesday, y'all! This week at the Color Throwdown we have a very pretty Spring color combo: Pink, Coral, and Green. ~ ~ This week I needed a special birthday card for my granddaughter Molly's birthday. So I decided to try out a technique revisited by Jennifer McGuire recently - Easel cards! I also used her suggestion to personalize it. Here is Molly's card: ~ ~ I colored everything with my Copic markers and airbrushed the background. The "Happy" and "molly" are coated with Glossy Accents for some sparkle and shine! I'm very happy with how it turned out!... Continue reading

~ Hello, and happy Wednesday! It's once again time for a new Color Throwdown challenge, and this week our generic colors are Blush Pink, Dark Pink, and Cream. ~ ~ And here is my card for the week: ~ ~ I used the Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers stamp set and Floral Shapes dies, along with the Folk Hearts dies from the Essentials by Ellen line. I used the shades of pink from the eggs in the vase instead of the pinks from the flowers. They worked better for a sympathy card. The heart shape and the flower were cut... Continue reading

~ Happy Friday, everyone! Today I have a cheerful "I can't wait for Spring" card to share with you. I adore this Wildflower Mini digital stamp set from Power Poppy, and it really makes me smile on these dreary rainy days/weeks we've been having in the Southeast. ~ ~ I colored the image with my Copic markers and attached the trimmed image to a panel of lavender cardstock. I then ran the panel through my Big Shot to die cut both layers with my Wonky Rectangles dies from Simon Says Stamp. I added a bit of silver twine and popped... Continue reading

~ It's Wednesday again and time for the latest Color Throwdown challenge! This week our generic colors are Blush, Sage Green, and Gold. ~ ~ What a gorgeous inspiration photo and what a beautiful color palette! I love it! Now...imagine my dilemma...I needed a masculine birthday card, and I thought these colors just screamed femininity!! But I persevered, and I think I did a decent job. Maybe adding the woodgrain background finally convinced me! ~ ~ And even if it still looks fairly feminine, if you state "love you.", it's got to count for something, right? That stag head is... Vickie is our hostess this week at the Color Throwdown and the generic colors she's chosen for us to play with are Red, Pink, Black, and White. ~ ~ Great combo for Valentines, right? That's what I thought, so I printed out some super cool "wooden" hearts from the Love, Love, Love digital stamp set by Graciellie Designs and colored them up with my Copic markers. ~ Hello and happy Wednesday once again! This week our color palette at the Color Throwdown is soft and sweet! The generic colors are Pink, Lavender, Yellow, and Mint Green. ~ ~ I took my cue for my creation from the variety of softly colored Valentine heart cookies in the inspiration photo. My Stacked Hearts die from Simon Says Stamp was the perfect tool to create a similar likeness on my card. ~ ~ The LOVE die and the YOU stamp are both from Papertrey Ink.
