Good stuff on your climb! I can't wait to read what happened on the next try.
I really came back today looking for your painting. I caught myself just staring @ it for a while this morning. You captured alot of emotions in such a simple layout.
One thing that I pondered for a while is labeling. It's amazing to me how we so quickly categorize & label what God said was good, how quickly our labeling leads to devisive emotions, and how quickly we, even in the church, write these people off. Are we afraid? Are we poorly trained disciples? Are we too lazy? Are we uncomfortable with our own self-prescribed or conceived label? Are we put off by the messiness? I don't know...
I don't have my copy of Burke's book with me right now but I remember that he said something to the effect of...Gateway is trying to create a culture of grace that leads to journeys of hope. I like that - even for the "labeled people." I think that's what a lot of us are missing. I ask God reqularly for our faith community to see people the way God does & love them the way that He does.
I hope on some levels that we are getting it right.
