I literally read TWO hints given by the class' teacher and improved my pics tremendously. All this time I thought it was my camera--nope, must blame the photographer.
New Beginnings
My wonderful friend Miranda has inspired me to work on some new projects this month. I'm completely jealous of her gorgeous photographs, so I decided to stop envying and start creating! April is a slower month for me because I am off of work for three weeks. My days are still hectic and busy...
The post he took out wasn't original to the house. The one that was original was taken out long ago, in a previous remodel. Apparently the wood that the beam that holds up the roof (big white beam in the center of the ceiling) is insanely amazing. Very, very, very strong. It's old-growth redwood; you can't buy it today. The piece he attached to the remaining post has a big strap of steel bolted to the inside of it. Apparently it's "earthquake kosher." I have to believe him; other people pay him a lot of money to do the math and tell them what do to with their buildings.
The difference in the room is amazing. It helps me see the light at the end of the tunnel. :)

My Greening Thumb

The plot with the net has beets, cilantro, lettuce, and arugula in the front. The back has a couple of heirloom bean varieties in one plot. (They'll be trained to vine up the net when they get big.) I think I'm putting zucchini and cucumber in the back too. Not sure about the last foot. Melon?
I am starting tomatoes, broccoli rabe, and thyme for the plot without the net. Basil will go in front of the tomatoes. Not sure about the rest.
Square Foot Garden
My wonderful friend Rachel introduced me to the method of square foot gardening. Here are my first two plots!
That one was done by Brian and Claire.:)
Cookie Decorating Professionals
Anyone who knows my mom, knows she is a very passionate cookie decorator. She has worked very hard to pass down this trait to both her children and grandchildren. I can't tell you the number of times my brother, Danny, and I were FORCED to decorate cookies. Yeah, yeah, sounds ridiculous, but ...
