That was great. I really appreciated what you said about taking away a project vs learning a technique or style. It totally resonated with me and put words to thoughts/feelings/frustrations I've had in the past. I was going through some of my scrapbooks the other day and I have one that I made in a class that I still hate. And the reason I hate it is because it is someone else's style (that I don't even like) with my photos in it. I am so much more careful now when selecting a class and after listening to today's podcast, I am even more clear how to avoid that error in the future! Great topic for a myriad of reasons. I enjoyed it!

My Year of Daily Creative Habits: Day 6
For this one I drew a butterfly that I saw on the cover of a magazine and then first filled in the black, let it dry and afterwards filled in the yellow and oranges. My favorite so far! I also did a quote for fun that I will post later. Sometimes I can't stop! Thanks for stopping by! To follow m...
It is awesome. I love the idea of seeing the whole year in one place.

As I mentioned yesterday I have decided to do something creative everyday of this year. I will choose a new challenge each month. To help me keep track of my progress, I've decided to use this Goal Tracking sheet from elisejoy.com that is perfect for my needs. I could have made something similar myself in Photoshop or PSE, but I loved the idea of supporting a small business owner and a mompreneur. Not to mention, it is wonderfully designed. As you can see, I am filling each circle with a different water-color pencil color in honor of my current challenge,... Continue reading

the 30th knit blanket
Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actual...
My Year of Daily Creative Habits Explained
As I posted early last month, I carved a stamp everyday in December. Loving a daily creative challenge as I do, I thought it would be really fun to continue on with something throughout 2015. Being a little daunted by doing the exact.same.thing.every.day for a YEAR! I thought it might be better for me if I chose a different creative challenge each month. This way I could change up the intensity of the challenges when I needed a break yet still take on the huge challenge of doing something creative everyday. At some point late last year, I discovered Crystal... Continue reading

Stamp Carving: #Carve December is off to a Great Start
I love a daily creative challenge! If you are a long time follower of my blog, you know I have committed to doing the odd daily challenge for a month or so before, like Lay Out A Day or 31 Days of Blogging or my attempt at 100 Days of Sketches that only got through Day 14 or so. It probably wo...
Julie's book is great, isn't it? I've seen a few posts and shares online where people used only an exacto knife. It certainly can be done, but I don't think you'd have as much flexibility with creating your design. It is a great way to get started if you want to give it a try without buying any out of the ordinary supplies. Your comment about my faces is too kind! I'd like to try a daily sketch challenge again sometime but get further than 14 days! Good luck with your drawing.

Multi-media Lady
I love making art and for as much as I love it, I haven't made enough time in my life to do it lately. Fortunately, I'm a docent for my kids' parent-run art program. Which means 5 times in a school year, I am trained by an artist on a project that I turn around and teach the class. Today we learned a little about Gustav Klimt and created a multi-media piece inspired by his amazing work. I was so inspired by the lecture and furthermore by doing the project that I decided I would like to be him. Or... Continue reading
