It seems like there are a lot of new nursing students going into the market and not finding employment. I recently went to an information session at an upscale hospital in southern California and about 500 students and out of work nurses showed up. The hospital had 15 positions available. The lines to talk and shake hands with the different department heads were so long it discouraged some from even attempting to finish the entire information session. I'm a nursing student that just completed a bachelor's in science nursing program at Cal State Long Beach. Anyone who is a nursing student out there, I'm available to answer questions and chat about anything and everything. I would love to hear why you students want to go into nursing besides the pay or job security. My reason has to do with being tired with my previous area of work and wanting to find a job that was meaningful.
