your doggie is wearing some fancy pants - no crumbs for his diner tonight. the little yellow at the base of the bullion stitch is sitting quite beauteously.
lemon cohesion
Did you think I wasn't coming today? I nearly never made it. I don't know why. I've been awake since 6 am. Everything is taking twice as long as it usually does and then I had an appointment I had forgotten about.....at least my feet are happy now....... Another pouch today, ...
looks just like my yard today - white, white, white, white...no the lace making fairies didn't visit me here last night...it was the man from the north pole swung by
the second white pouch
I am working on another white pouch. This one is very different. This one has metallic silk tissue and off white fabrics alongside vintage trims and old cloth. The first one, this one, was a much brighter white. I am still surprised at times when I see the variations of ''white'' a...
yes, catch of few zeds for me as well! good lifting and shuffling to you and the rest of the ruaneseseseseseseessseses
surface....relaxing stitching.
More surface embroidery, a pleasure to create, easy stitching whilst relaxing on the sofa with my feet up. This is the calm before....not the storm.....the excitement? the commitment? the investing of time and energy into simply stitch 2 which begins on Monday. It's not t...
i fancy the strip of paper laying on top...is it all paper and stitch or is there some cloth there. it is hard to tell since i can't enlarge it but it has caught my eye...and i can't seem to pull it off the screen to get it back into my eye socket! ha ha...crappy day here. cool which i like but dripping drops of rain...it's not raining though this afternoon it is suppose to but for now just drippings. i do enjoy looking at you ledgers/drawings. they have a fascination about them - "now how did she do that?" HOW does she do it? petula
it's all about the petals
I've still got petals on my mind. Petals of the applique kind and drawn petals, sketched petals. I added more petals to my silk piece last night. Meanwhile I am struggling a little with a small piece of artwork. I say struggling, I think I am getting there but it's been H A R D. I think I was...
the dye pot, the cloth and the flowers: things with wings.
To dye what I imagine
To dye or not to dye has always been a question. For the first time I am going to concentrate on dyeing a bit. Purposefully try to personalize it a bit. Take some of the sameness out of it. See what I can express with it. Find a reason for it in my work. I have planned to focus on c...
so here's what i think you should do: they make these storage trunks that can be used for seating when closed. they come in various sizes and they are portable...why not consider something like that - and then there is that room that will be vacated shortly too! sleepy today - me that is. as, i just love the patches - holes or no holes.
different
Two ever present pieces but both added to, embroidered a little more, different from the last time you saw them. The white piece has more frills and flounces, a few more patches and buttonhole lace seams. The colourful piece has a new pocket since yesterday...and a patch along with ...
so, was it you who had the shoe and all those children she didn't know what to do with? glad you can finally leave the house, even though you weren't suppose to leave again til you know when!!!!!!!!!
ruched lace pockets and lace cloth
I've been making lace cloth this morning...straight out of bed and straight onto the sewing machine. It was a need, an urge. This piece will grow, I have plans. I may even try and sell it when it gets a bit bigger...we shall see. Yesterdays pinned thing...
it is also said that if you put a sheet in the freezer before you got to bed and then put the sheet on the bed at lease you have it cool for a few...i usually take a bath of just cool water and don't dry off too much and lay down on a towel until i dry off - but that has to be extreme for me to do that - wear as little as possible - or nothing if possible...and keep the fan directly on you - that's how i've gotten through the night. so now you have to compile or this wisdom and make a reference tab...
i love you little parsnip embellishments - i say parsnips because when i opened the page this morning i read parsnip instead of parcel for the header - so i've decided that it should just stay parsnips. light airy parsnips...
what's that you said about heat head
parcels?
I have been pinning snippets of my lace cloth to white silk. They look like tiny little parcels of air...light and fluffy. I embroidered a strip of cross stitch along the silk first. That was damp stretched last night. It gives me an anchor for placement, a reference point. These wi...
i thought Mr. HWPB was going to take you out for some cake - ironing board...not for the stitch goddess - ice cream, cake, and streamers...i hope you wiggle your toes at least when your ironing...
it's all about cross stitch....
I was up bright and early today, outside, in the sunshine, playing, doodling, colouring in. It's all to do with stuff that's happening in simply stitch but also who doesn't love to doodle? Stitching first, almost every time but doodling.....it's so relaxing and I don't have any...
see i was telling you off and something happened to my comment - just delete it. it was cheeky. hope you had a good time and the cake looked good enough to eat!
more white
The new pouch is progressing, slowly perhaps but I see the finish line and I'm happy that each step has been well considered. I am working on the lining at the moment. That will be damp stretched shortly....if all goes to plan you will get to see it Friday or Saturday. I c...

applique, patches and lace
These pieces were seen briefly in yesterdays video so here is more detail. One of these is a sample for my sampler cloth, applique and patches with a scattering of hand embroidery stitches. The other, a piece of lace cloth I created myself which has similar colou...
we all know that you are the missing character from alice - the mad hatter cousin karen...lewis just didn't want the story to be too long and have too many queens in competion. i think it's marvelous that your brain is on fire - which would you prefer: light bulb head or brain freeze. i'm excited too - the cooler weather (please my goddess of weather) should reappear again someday and we'll all need a titivated pouch/pocket to sit our bod-kins in. the cloth is so refreshing to see - reminds me of freshness which has nothing to do with sweatness which is where i find myself in the melt down called summer. cheers little magic stitcher of 3...though i think you are older - at least 5.5.

this looks very complicated. almost like a loom.
what is simply stitch 2
I've had a few e mails enquiring about ''simply stitch 2''. What is it? How does it differ from ''simply stitch 1''. Today's video should go some way to explaining that, to give a sense of what happens in this amazing group. Basically simply stitch is a ''watch me whilst I crea...

Fire on Friday
HOME The burning has continued from here. Now with more intention. This fire. Which burns inward. It will refine the ring, consume some of the impurities. Cleanse the form. I have set this ring into motion to contain a full spectrum of light. And I might imagine it to redefine the rai...
oh...my first valentine for the day....x
a trip round the new pouch
There are a lot of images today, indecisive me couldn't decide which ones to leave out. I have tried to give a comprehensive view here of the current pouch in progress. There are quite a few flounces and frills and will undoubtedly be more of those...

July. It's so hot. So far the house has stayed cool enough but I know today will be the day that the balance changes. With the highest humidity I ever remember, staying comfortable, especially sleeping will become difficult. Bitch alert.
have you ever seen a photo of nancy cunnard? with all of her bangles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Cunard

maybe we should just wear our hoops and apply them to use when needed? i have already been to class so i'm late and i have sinus nose clog today. (i think that is a new swedish dance: the sinus nose clog...click you heels three times) honestly i haven't been drinking anything but coffee this morning - and an over ripe banana for breakfast!
but i am trying to keep my head up as it is a lovely day here too and i need to enslave my sister who is still here for another couple of days to help me lay so barrier cloth in the garden and patch a few spots on mom's mortar on the house. this has nothing today with anything here today dose it...oh well...when you live alone you tend to talk to anyone who listens?!?
i better say something related to todays post before i get carded next time. what i really like (luv) are the patches and the way the turned edges make them look like they have their own frames - they are miniature framed pictures in my nuttter's brain. i think it is affecting me - my dream last night. I was dreaming about "jack taylor" to PBS show with iain glen...i think it was exciting - you know at my age - well - let's not go there.
sorry karen - i'm just one big blabber mouth today. Hello Deanna too. and anyone else who reads this - forgive the rambling of an old stitcher woman who's lost her shoes.
four hoops
These are the constants in my life at the moment, creatively and otherwise. It doesn't matter what I am doing, housework, cooking, supermarket, these are ever present in my thoughts. I love all of this work equally. Silk embroidery samples which will one day become a ...
i have never tried macs so might have to check into that some day...money as always is still the issue. i know that they are much better tool for creative people. the university, art institute, only used macs in the classroom. the library was transitioning to macs when i retired. i am something of a Luddite but always interested in learning something new...im sure i would enjoy the mac. thanks deanna.
I have been adding to my second sampler, working on it and if this was a colouring book I would be going over the lines!! I haven't stuck to my boundaries at all....oops. I'm not in the least bit bothered, I like it with a little bit of rebellion going ...
